Default Mmmmmm Big Bore Shocks!

Just seen Jimmys The Players pre report and see the new big bore shocks and springs!

They look superb! When are they out??

What performance gains will they give? I suppose being big bore you have a larger volume of oil so you can run lighter oils and get a different pack to the shock?

See the pics in Jimmys report! New wishbones too!

It's good the team keep developing the CAT rather than Xray who bring a new car out each year!

In theory, if all things are equal the shocks characteristics shouldnt change too much.

A large shock capacity will help with greater consistency and the oil not having to work as hard therefore lasting longer and requiring less maintenance.

But with new pistons shapes, number of drilled holes, as well as revised springs, I think that some fine tuning will be necessary to get the best from them.

I'm more interested in the tuning springs tbh.. where can i get those from? I like how the weight is etched into the spring.. are any available for the standard shocks?

None of the big bore shocks or springs are avaliable yet.
They are being tested and will be out when they are happy with them.
We all want a set, but only an elite few have had a go, the rest of us must be patient, haha.
And no springs like this have been made for the normal shocks as far as I know.

Not an option for some I'm afraid.......

After seeing the shocks in action this weekend I am very impressed and looking forward to getting my hands on a set. Si and Grant's cars both looked planted, the cars could get over the rumble mat section alot better than most. It also appeared to help the landings from the big jump.

It's hard to tell of course by just looking but both drivers and mechanics were positive enough through their comments concerning the testing, there is still some more testing to do and I'm sure we'll be hearing more about them sooner rather than later

When they are released I'll get a set and try them out, until then Losi threaded shocks at our track.

No, the tapered pistons are the next thing they'll try - if they work then I'm sure they'll be included.

Both the drivers seemed to love the new dampers and said it made a real difference.

I like playing the shock game...

knowing almost nothing about the size of them etc...

a stab in the dark here

6 hole pistons in the front equiv hole size to a Losi black piston, 40wt oil, black springs :P
8 hole pistons in the rear equiv hole size to a Losi black piston, or maybe 6 hole red/orange equiv, 30wt oil, black springs :P

dialled... maybe, I reckon I will be spot on with the springs at least

either way, big bore is the future!

Exactly what a friend of mine says. Losi springs are the best that I have come across.

the shock never pass the wishbone, dont think it does on any car,the spring taper is so that the std spring retainer can be used im guessing,a large flat sring retainer might catch the wishbone,
