A simple method is to use old baking trays and an oven set to 100deg C. Leave them in there for about 10-15 minutes and they should pull off easily. The really well stuck ones might need to go back in at 120deg C.

Thought it was worth mentioning!!!
what do you think cooking plastic at any were near 100 degree,s will do the plastic, the rims made of

Just whack them the steamer with the veg for half an hour and tyres come off no problem. Much better than messing around with chemicals.

I've not tried it yet but I was told to boil them. I would have thought boiling would result in a more even temperature compared to an over where they might get crispy on one site!

I tried boiling some rims at full boil for half an hour turning regularily, and some glue broke off, but a lot still stayed stuck. So I chucked it into a container of acetone for a couple of hours and viola! Pulled straight off and no glue left on the rims either.

Seems it depends what glue you use. I had in the past baked tyres in the oven at 110* and this worked ok too, but I didn't want to stink out mine again

Just remembered that i had my first batch of wheels to check in the garage after i read this post. Took the remaining rubber off with ease. It just fell off. I have got stacks of wheels now to go through the process. Im sure if i remember rightly i have been paying about £15 for tyres(which i still have to!) £3 ish for foams(i know Jez used to sell tyres and foams as a tyre deal) and about £7 for wheels a pair so it loks like a good move to get this acetone stuff even though i had a nightmare getting it.

They will be fine, just wash them in hot soapy water then rinse well. Or some people put them in the washing machine.
