Default Video of my Optima Mid competing against the modern cars at Worksop 15/11/2015

Just a quick video my friend took of my Optima Mid racing against the modern 4WD buggies at round 2 of the Worksop Indoor Master series. Was sat in 45th out of 90 4WD racers at the end of round one. Ended up finishing 53rd and I'm pretty happy with that. Roll on the next one.

Old cars are like a fine wine, they just get better with age

Hi Oli,

thanks for that

It's running an Orca 10.5T brushless motor with an old Speed Passion LPF speed controller. The modern cars were taking chunks out of it down the straight. I'm tempted to try a faster motor but then I don't want it to become unreliable.

What have you run in yours?

Not yet but I'll try to get them fitted for Batley on Sunday. Really hope they work

Runs nicely. Straight line speed seems to be the only issue. What were the other drivers running?

I think they're all running 6.5's or possible lower. I'm running a 10.5. Thinking about trying a 7.5 but I don't know how long the transmission will last?

Are you still running the stock "slipper" clutch? I think that, along with the center gear, are the weakest links in the transmission. Maybe you can keep the transmission safe with reducing punch power, so the gears get less of a "jolt" when you do a throttle punch. Or convert to a modern slipper clutch, like Daniel Rowlands is running.
