Default Does anyone know what this is?

My friend bought this car quite cheap this weekend. It runs well and fast, but we have no idea what it can be. The chassis is yellow paintet aluminium and it has a little bend (perhaps 3-5 degrees) a couple of centimetres from the edge.

I know the pictures are far from perfect; my friend is no photographer.

Thanks for saving my day! I have been at Mardaves web page and spares prices are very reasonable. Out of curiosity, have anyone had any experiences with other tires fitting the original rims? Anyone adapted the axles for Hexes so other brand buggy wheels would fit?

I am not the greatest tinkerer so any advise will be welcome

I know you can and did drive one of the few A team drivers cars which admit was vastly different but would do a google search on mardave cobra and you should find a thread somwhere hopefully with some cars that have been upgraded. I am sure the one I used had associated axles and wheels but unsure which cars they came from.its a superb car that didnt cost the earth.

The man too speak too is Adey on here. I race with him on occasion and he raced the latest spec car they did with a lot of prototype parts on it. I believe he still has the car. Trust me, there isn't much he won't know about racing one. I maybe wrong but I think he had mardave support with the car.

Standard wheels are 2.2" - so all current tyres will fit

Thanks a bunch guys, all these answers have been greatly appreciated. Good ideas all around.

Dave/fidspeed, I would definitely appreciate pictures some time at your convenience. If it is easier to email you can reach me at jakobtarri@gmail.com

Welshy, I have seen the pages and think the first one will be the easy front suspension fix.

Mark Cristopher, I have tried contacting Mardave as I cannot get shipping options for Denmark where we live. However they are not too responsive to their contact form. Maybe I will have to make a phone call (so 90's :-)

Adey, I actually just pm'ed you after reading Buggyman's answer and before seeing you on this thread.

Replied to you. Cleaning mine off and rebuilding it sometime soon then it's either run it at the iconic or sell it on here.

Get some pics up of your modified Cobra Adey - we'd all love to see that.

I thought the Associated stub axle mod was more for the earlier Meteor to allow for more modern tyres (for the time) and front ballraces to be used? It is a mod we actually did on our Meteor back then.

Look at the mardave section on here. There is a cobra dicussion worth reading. It's about 11 pages long.
