if you are going 4WD then the blizzard is definatley a better car, as far as i can see all you need to do is put a better set of shocks on it. i run the X4Pro, and it is very competative think of the blizzard as the basic bmax.

Blizzards are good but they dont come with a slipper.
The X4-pro is the way to go.... £170 if you shop around

Sorry a bit Dim when it comes to technicalities! Oh and as a newbie I find the Smacker much tougher than the Blizzard, but I can crash both quite easily! |

The slipper clutch in a 4wd is mostly to cushion the drivetrain from rough landings. I've run cars without them in the past and it hasn't been a huge issue, although I tend to be a bit gentler on the throttle than other drivers.

Get a second hand B44, a competative car, with all the bits on, and you may even get some spares.

For the lower budget, the LRP S10 Blast BX has all the toys - slipper, gear diffs, big bore shocks, front CVDs, and is available roller only for £90 from Freeprawn Racing.
Used B44s are hens' teeth atm, but are a solid platform. Hard to get one cheap though.

Yes definatly check the parts are easy to get if your getting a blast, thats all I will say .
I am assuming you need a car which will take stick packs Mark so that does limit the choice of 4wd cars you have availiable to you. My money would be buy a nice second hand x4 and then get a blizzard chassis for it. Then you get all the goodness of the pro (slipper clutch, alloy shocks) and you are able to run stick packs.
