Default which micro for a newby

thanks to some great local guys theres now a proper place to race

I know that the losi mini 8 seems to be the car to have, but having looked around online, ebay etc i see the carisma gt14b appears to be considerably cheaper, RTR packages are very cheap indeed

as Im likely to end up buying 2 setups, my lil girl is totally in love with these!!

are they any good or should I wait and get the Losi's?

this seems silly cheap

As with picking any car, the best thing to do is to check out what support there is in your local area and club, and see what they are all running. If you have some setup trouble or break something you don't have a spare, the friendly guys at your local club will always be happy to help if they can. There is nothing worse than being the only guy at your club with your car.

The GT14b is a bit cheaper as it was replaced last year by the GTB. Which is a stunning little car. The other popular makes are the losi 8 and the LC EMB-1. The last micro national of the year is this Sunday, so you may find a few cars getting sold next week!

Tony,

If you want reliability and built like a tank you can beat the LC EMB-1.

At the nationals there's the main cars are Carisma GTB's and the LC-Racing EMB-1. At the moment it's 50/50 to which one will wrap up the championship! The Losi is still a decent car though so take your pic!

Hi Tony,

Any of the 4 main cars (Carisma - gtb or gt14b, Losing Mini 8 or Lc emb 1) can be competative. The main reason we have a lot of mini 8's is we all bought them before most of the others were available. I currently run a gtb and am very happy with that but it is highly modified and I like belt drive cars in general. If buying a stock car I would personally say the emb1 kit is the best base as the spec and materials used are the highest. You need to spend quite a lot on a mini 8 to get it to the same spec.

Any of the above could be ordered from the new model shop

Default gt14 rtr

A few people (me included)were having a few problems with the stock gt14 rtr speedo cutting out.
Theres a few threads about it on the micro forum.
Nothing that a cheap ez run wont fix though.
I would definitely add £30 to the price of the rtr to replace it.
Also batteries are a lot more expensive for the gt14 as its saddle formation.
Just a couple of things to consider when buying the rtr.

Im sure one of the micro guys can advise what electrics to get if you dont go down the rtr route, i havent raced micro for a couple of years.
