Sorry Lewis,my post was aimed at LT
Im not having a dig in any way at you LT, but basically there's nothing wrong with how your cars running from what you say. So there's no point in putting holes in your shell. As has been said previous, go down a tooth on your pinion If you want to be on the safe side PS,hope your enjoying the car,I love mine |

See, I would rather drill a hole or two than loose an ESC
No offense taken Brooksy, you gotta try harder than that The X2C is a great buggy but the designers IMHO ignored the fact that these competition motors produce a good amount of heat. So, like I said earlier, it is just an idea to prevent any further overheating. |

LT, I take it from your first post that you assumed many others had cut holes in the shells for cooling, when judging by almost all the replies no one has a problem with overheating and no one had thought about adding extra cooling.
If you want to add cooling holes then there is nothing stopping you adding them, but if you are racing at a BRCA affiliated club the cut outs will have to meet the BRCA rules: Quote:

Thanks for the reply Terry, and yes, my original idea was adding some extra cooling as a prevention and I am still curious to see different ideas how it could be done. Knowing the rules helps designing those vents, so it was a great addition.

Wether this actually does anything or not i dont know, as you can see its a clear shell so wasn't bothered about it being holey.

That will cool it but looking at will cause more drag on the body now and it might not handle the same.
I'm using a 7.5 motor 80/23 with no heat issues. Try gearing down or check all you bearings / diff / gearbox for any binding with would cause a lot of extra friction with will make you motor overheat. Michael

What did you cut that out with ?
You wouldnt be allowed to race at a BRCA event with such a large hole in your shell ...

21/80 with a 5.5T and it never gets hot. Even after extended runs of 10mins it is warm but still touchable, with no vents or holes.....

This is far more than I had in mind, I was thinking of like a few 3-4mm holes or maybe 1-2 slits (like the one on Losi22). Thanks for the pics. |

Can't see it making much difference too handling., that is noticeable anyway. BRCA don't affect as not done any.
Used scissors to cut it And LT, yes is a big hole lol
