Default Building a ZXR Mk2 for a friend

A short while back a good mate of mine expressed interest in a vintage racer. As it happened we found a job lot on eBay and we made a quick purchase. As it happens we ended up with this guys life collection of ...well um...stuff. Nothing had been very well cared for and all was used and never cleaned. Amongst that lot we found a nice ZXR mkII which had been converted to run on road with a sedan body and foam slicks. Fortunately for me my buddy wanted this car and of course I opted to help him out.
After stripping, cleaning and closely inspecting all parts for wear I reassembled this car swapping out and adding parts as I went. What we ended up with was a very nice car destined for the race track.
Now, it has been half a life time since my pal has been behind the wheel of an r/c car but I wanted to set him up with something that was both controllable but also a little impressive (no silver can here). I dropped a 13T Ezrun system in and a pair of Lipo saddles. Still yet to get this thing to the track here is where I got up to.

Very nice!

Had no idea saddle lipos would fit in between the std body posts? Must try that on my mid!

How do you prevent the saddles from moving laterally?

After stripping down, cleaning, sourcing some parts, rebuilding, trimming and painting the lexan, fitting the electrics and tuning the car I have left that for him to deal with. He was planning to chase up some Velcro to hold the cells down and stop them from sliding around. Wether he's done that or not I am unaware.

I bet you were tempted to keep that build after the effort you put into that!

I guess you were rewarded in other ways.

4400 is the biggest you can go and be careful as you can short them if using cf top deck. Make sure your connectors are low profile.

That is one very nice build

Is that an aftermarket chassis? I was certain the ZX-RR chassis only had the six cutouts for the cells not seven like the ZX and ZX-R MKI

Thanks for the compliments on the shell. I really struggled to come up with a design that was kinda vintage and unique. I like the way it turned out. Maybe not shelf quality but would look awesome out circulating on one of our tracks.
My buddy 'Chris' hasn't had an rc car since his SG Coyote and Losi JRX Pro. Getting this one built and to him was a real treat. He loves it.
