Default Gear ratios

Hi all,

I am getting a S1v3 sport to use outdoors and planning to use a 13.5t motor with it. Not looking for anything too fast, just a good place to start.

The chassis has an 81t spur gear, but when I add the motor, I am not sure what size pinion to use. I’m thinking it would be between 21 and 26 but that’s from my old TC days and 2WD buggy’s and outside racing is obviously going to be different.

I have tried reviewing some existing setup sheets but the site seems to have been down for a few days now .

25 pinion will give you final drive ratio of 8.42
26 will give you 8.10

with a 13.5t motor you are looking at a gear ratio of about 7.0 for the final drive ratio.

the internal gearbox ration is 2.6:1 on these cars.

therefore a 30t pinion is what you need to go for. should be plenty of room. otherwise you can reduce the spur gear size as they go down to a 71t spurgear.
