It depends on how you generally run the car, and your driving style, but for us:

- Use it on high bite tracks to increase steering response.
- With the right tyres for the track, the whole car has a locked in feel that you can push hard.
- For even more front bite add the brass front brace.
- Allows us to usually compete against the front motors on high grip Astro.
- Change back to plastic if track becomes slippery (it's a fast switch).

For us it's an essential tuning aid with the car on British tracks.

Thanks that really useful.
I race on a astro track.
I have found running the car with a low ride height helps.
I use schumacher mini pins rear (yellow) and schumacher low profile cut stagger (yellow) front.
But I'm looking for a little more off power steering. We have several hairpin bends in our clubs track.

What tyres would you say are the right tyres???

Thanks

I added 25g in front of the servo, I had far more bite on initial turn in and have enough mid turn power on or off. I also have the alloy steering rack.

I'd say your front tyres seem right. On the rear if pins work that's fine. On some astro surfaces they can be edgey and then mini spikes work better.

For more off power steering I'd:

- Lower the inner caster link. For even more, shorten the link.
- Soften the front suspension.

You'll know if you have overdone it - the car will start to hook around on tight corners.

Thanks. I try that

thanks for the feed back Ed

I'm a bit afraid to add so much weigh right on the front end. 50g is a lot!

I personally use 20g to run on carpet. 10g inside the front cell, and 10g under the steering rack, with just a sketchy double sided tape

do you know how much you can gain with an aluminium bulkhead vs plastic?
it could be more convenient to me... and more tunable with little weights here and there than just run the heavy brass part...

Lolo-J,
Everything is relative - depending on driving style, track surface, what you are trying to do with the car. We haven't used the brass brace and bulkhead together often, but it helped us to faster times in a few high grip circumstances. It's your lap times that count. Brass or weights) is a tuning aid to use, to improve lap times, not fit and forget.

This thread was in reference to astro. For your carpet track you're right - add weight and see what it does for you. Regarding aluminium bulkhead etc I only fit them for strength - there's not much difference in weight.

sure I care about lap time!

I tried up to 35g (the most I could fit with what I had) on a high grip carpet, and settled on 20g on our medium bite carpet, which is now my base set-up.
what I'd like to find is something more tunable than just 0 or 50g.
and something reliable that won't fly around the track on the first bump (it happened!)
if the aluminium option is too light, may be the solution would be to buy several brass bulkheads and reduce each a bit in weight. how much do you think is possible to remove? I've never had one in hands... I did that with another part for my previous 22.

do you remove it on the wet?

I'm about to run on astro (which I'm not used to) pretty soon, so I read you carefully

thanks
