Default DBoots - Yes or No

Hi all

Need some new tyres (for a TLR22) and thought about trying DBoots - What are peoples experiences with them?

Dry: Schumacher Mini Pin or Mini Spikes Yellow
Wet: Ballistic Buggy Pink or Green

Tried D Boots in the dew last night and they were to snatchy compared to the even give of the ballistic. These were A compound D Boots, but I'll try some B grade soon.

Default i like them

in the wet, the softer dBoots are great, wear well and grip for longer than the others in my opinion.

in the dry, the harder compound dBoots are good, but at shrccc i prefer the shuey ylw spikes or blue/yellow pins.....

I think a few have tried the varios versions of dBoots as there are a few styles, multibyte, terrabyte etc. cant remember which is which......

I've found the Multibyte A compound nice for the rear end on grass - and before I started racing I noticed it was also a pretty nice drive on (very) dusty dirt and soft dirt (but back then I didn't compare it to other tires).

I used 4WD fronts (also Multibyte A) on my TRF201 to try out, but it was very bad: first it took ages to get any bite, and then suddenly mid corner it would turn around to too much bite. When I switched the front tires to Schumi cut staggers (yellow, I think they are low profile) the car immediately felt much better. In the freshly cut grass the combo felt best (it was also still slightly damp), in the afternoon the car was a little more nervous but still ok - the degrading track conditions and dry surface probably contributed to that.

I've not extensively tested the dBoots, but I doubt there are many tires that can beat the Multibyte A on grass: Pretty stiff spikes (and chunky too), so exactly what you need to get good bite. If there's anyone at your club with dBoots (for astroturf I suppose?), ask them if you can try them on your car for a lap or two?
