Its a one way diff... you should have it shown in your instructions?
Like Rob says not many use it.. i personally dont think theres any need for it. As long as you have your diffs and slipper (most importantly..) adjusted correctly you will have more than enough steering  With a one way you will get plenty i guess but will sacrify your braking capabilities.. I don't actually have a K-car at the moment but ran a B44 this season and being from the old skool, grew up with 4wd having one-ways. There's not one available for the B44 and I'm not really sure that I like the way it drives (but don't know if thats the car or a symptom of the full-time 4wd). So I'm investigating potential alternatives...

FS/FS2 is awesome!!
Its an odd car though in as much as the difference with and without the one-way diff is so limited people have driven mine and guessed wrongly if I have one fitted or not!!! I always ran with the one-way as I like the disconnection of the front end under braking and lift off and thus struggled with perm 4wd. I have just started training myself to drive without one and it is hard work but is getting better every meeting (as in the driver is letting the car down less each time). The option is there mate, the car is awesome either way ... MUCH smoother than a B44 without loosing out on steering. I have a few bits in development too that might well help those people, like me, who prefer a one-way but would rather have diff-like front end drive ... like a centre one-way but better

I wonder how many ppl this year have gone to Kyosho because there was hardly ever any drivers???

The B44 "one-way" is the spool though isn't it,which doesn't provide any diff action at all and seems to me like a perfect way to wreck your drive train!!
Not having driven a 4wd with a one-way for over 10 years, my memory may be sketchy on exactly what characteristics I think I will prefer over full time 4wd! My last 4wd (XX4) had the clicker system which I thought was nice; gave the same kind of feel as a traditional one-way but could be tweaked to give more braking capabilities. Certainly with the B44, cornering through bumps/slopes on high grip astro, there seems a tendency to want to dig in and roll off power. I, maybe wrongly, think that a one-way will help here and allow me to push much more? Having an option of a (non-spool) one-way would give me the chance to evaluate anyway. I appreciate your feedback guys

I seam to set of a bit of an lazer fs craze going at bury metro there are about 6 cars there now and not 1 of the lads is dissapointed with the car and most of them have had all the others ie durango,501x,cat sx etc and still say the lazer is the best by far!!!

So, what else is needed other than the FS2 kit? Any specific hopups or options? I gather it's Lipo ready?
Could I fit B44 wheels or would I need new stocks? At the best part of £350, I hope not much else is required!

You dont need anything extra tbh.
All i have done as upgrade is the Alloy 0deg hubs & alloy wheels hexes but not required tbh. I would just run the car as kit tbh you will love it You will have to run Kyosho wheels I dont think the B44 ones will fit different size hex i believe

Open box, build car with either Nick Caro's or my set-up (Nick likes it soft with mega front end, I like it stiffer and smoother) and off you go. The most you will need is an extra pair of springs (for my set-up ... think Nick runs the kit ones!)
As for wheels I have been running Losi/AE fitting rears on the proline axles on the FS and made adapters to suit Losi/B44 fronts as I had huge stocks. For the winter and next season I am changing to the Kyosho wheels for these reasons; they stay round the drive slots/hexes don't round off the FS2 / RB5SP2 rear end can't be used easily with the proline axles as the axle length has changed!
