Default HW 3.1 settings for B5M 3 gear on high grip carpet and low grip gym floor

Hi.

Was struggling with setup my B5M running at Caldicot on ultra low grip gym floor on throttle last week.
Car would literally do doughnuts on 1/4 throttle!

Motor was Absima 8.5 geared 24/81

Reviewed settings on speedo and have set the throttle to be as follows:
Throttle punch rate switch point 65
Stage 1 punch: 10
Stage 2 punch: 15

Following looking at Alan Bachman setup for low grip on 8.5 SCT.

No boost or turbo timing

Car was great on the carpet but was losing half a second on the slippy due to having no confidence in the car on slippy.

Previous setup was switch point at 99% and 12 rate punch

Struggled with on throttle control at Kiddy in the summer too when wet!

Does this sound like a step forward?

On the v2.1 speedo I would turn down the DDRS to about 4-5 when low grip, turned up to 7 when high grip.

Cheers
Mark

I would say your punch is too high.
Most the people I race with have punch real low. I run max 3 on a HW 3.1.
You could also try a bit of neg. exp on the throttle. It may help.
Is it ball or gear diff?

Hi,

Thanks to that. Car was excellent today, even on the polish, very controllable.
Punch was fine to be honest.
Moving the battery back at the start of the day helped, but the gear diff was okay. Might try the ball diff next time.
