Chris's car got used as a brake.
Basically Chris was gridding up for his heat whilst another driver was still running and slammed into him full bore on the straight. I had called for the cars to line up for the start, so Chris was right to stop on the straight, but don't think the other driver heard.
Either way, a snapped shock shaft and a bent chassis was what I saw, but not surprised if there is more as well....

However, I win cos today got me in trouble with the wife. Much more costly than a mere £50. I was supposed to stay home and paint the nursery for the new baby!

A few of todays 'technical issues' which only ever happen when Rog isn't there:

1) The blue generator stopped working. It starts, then conks out. Switched to the red one but I'd already poured all the fuel into the blue one, so we had to remove the tank to get the fuel out!

2) The sound output jack for the timing broke and needed resoldering. I only realised it was the jack when I'd literally tested everything else.

3) People kept missing laps. We changed the coax, fiddled with the loop, but couldn't figure it. It seemed the faster the driver, the more it missed laps. It was only be sitting and listening to the box beep every time, but not get counted that I realised - we were running a short, fast track. The minimum lap time was set at 20 seconds, every lap under was ignored.

4) After sifting though the printouts and manually editing the times to correct problem 3 I managed to bluescreen and crash the system. On restart it loaded last weeks meeting! Restarted again and this time it restored the right meeting.

5) The 2wd A final was 8 minutes long because it had been reset last week and whilst I knew and meant to change it points 1-4 had kept me so distracted I hadn't got round to it. Mind you, everyone except Alistair seemed to like that!

So all in all a busy day. Having made the A final by virtue of my first round time (I scrapped 2 runs to sort computer problems) you can imagine I wasn't best pleased when someone moaned it me for getting in their way!

Wish it was just that mate, its a 10mm LWB chassis that arnt available anymore. plus not only is it benter than a 10 bob note, its twisted. Will take alot of hammering.
Add to that shock shaft and cup, rear hub snaped and hinge pin bent.

You need a Cougar. The one that hit you didn't get so much as a scratch.....

Default The blue generator

The only thing wrong with the blue one is ----it needs oil
Has nobody ever noticed it runs as if parked down hill.
What's going to happen when I retire??

All in all a good days racing and finally managed to finish a race after 3 meetings of trying haha! I thought I should pack it all in when my car wasn't counting over the loop in rounds 1 and 2! A breath of fresh air to realise it was only a transponder issue.
Had a great (technically) first meeting with the car, have realised however that you go a lot quicker on you're wheels than you're roof!

If its any consolation Chris I have a gouge on my shin where the afformentioned Cougar slammed into it haha! Can't bend that back into shape!!! Ha!

Won't be there for the next few weeks do see you indoors.

Some sort of information regarding that would have helped!

I do think this highlights a major issue, which I was going to discuss at the AGM but its probably an idea if people consider first.

At the moment Rog basically runs everything - timing, accounts, equipment etc. I can (just about) run the timing in Rog's absence, as can Matt and Stu. But I've got another baby due in a few weeks, plus a turbo-charged toddler and a mountain load of stuff from work. I can't take on any more and I suspect that goes for other committee members too.

We need more people who can help out on racedays - its not really something you can do and still race so I'm figuring parents or partners of racers here. Without such people the club simply can't keep running.
