Front spool or diff for touring cars?

I'm starting up in touring cars. Do you have to run diffs at both ends or can I run a spool in the front. The brca rules seem a bit vague to be honest and reading about the new 2016 X-ray in racer mag, it comes with a spool as standard. Which would suggest to me that they are allowed. Can anyone clarify this for me??

Spool is fine most ppl use them in dry but I know a few ppl in the wet like to run a very stiff front diff stick with the spool

Cheers for that, I'll fit the spool then. Raced mardaves for years and years and thought things could get complicated on them lol. Got a lot to learn by the look of things.

Welcome to the on road scene, there are no rules concerning diffs, spools etc in most classes I think except oval racing.
Anyway if you are getting an Xray look at the set up sheets for the team drivers,

can't remember the last time I saw a front diff, most people who do run diffs use putty in which gives an almost spool feel.
Personally I haven't used one since the T2 009 and didn't like it in that.
The only exception to the above is if using foam tyres (a spool will increase wear in all drivetrain components due to the extra grip foam tyres can give)

at our local club racing indoors on slippery floor surfaces

some racers are racing gear diff front and rear and liking it

heavy oil in the front and lot lighter in the rear

some still prefer spool front and gear or ball diff in rear
its all down to personal preference

As they have told you 99% of the times spool is way quicker, in stock classes is a must due the reduced weight on the drive train.
You will see some mod racers using in in some tracks with high grip and really high speed chicanes, this is because due the high grip the car can roll over with an spool, at the moment is the only moment that you will see it.
Maybe as fidspeed has said on really slippery tracks it might help, but I would prefer to keep with spool, working with heavy weights (half a million cSt or more) oil it is a nightmare..

Thanks for all the advice guys. As I said, my main racing experience has been mardave based oval racing so this is a step into the unknown for me lol. Really appreciate the support
