Default What gearing are you running on your 511?

I posted another thread yesterday about keeping my motor temps down after it got really hot on the weekend. Running indoors on a X12 7.5t and using a 17T pinion. Outdoors i tend to use a 18T and have never had heat issues.

What gearing does everyone else run on their cars. Would be interesting to know.

P.S, im using the std 91t sized spur gear.

I use a 20t on a 91 spur on a 5.5 and temps are not too bad

So on a 7.5t ive always assumed your go higher on the pinion due to less revs and more torque, if your using a 20T on a 5.5, a 21/22t would make sense on a 7.5 motor, or am i completely wrong?

I only ask as i ran mine on a 17/91 on a 7.5 motor and it wasnt reving out on the straight and had good punch out of corners, ive always been told to gear so the motor runs out of puff at the end of the straight?

them LRP motors get super hot anyway!!

also depends on track grip and size.

Running on a really tight high(ish) all carpet track, do you think my gearing sounds ok Lee?

Just trying to make sure im not overlooking something stupid, should also have a heatsink and fan by nexy weekend to try, see if that helps.

I know I'm only driving a DB01, but the gearing is the same AFAIK.

I use a 7.5t Novak motor and I use between a 19t and 21t depending on how tight things are. I get the feeling a 17t is too small, but I could be wrong.
