Best Off Road Long Shocks

Hi All,

Need a pair of longish (roughly trf501x rear damper length) aftermarket dampers to put on the front of a 2wd buggy I have with silly big front damper stays, does anyone know where I could get some and what the best options are?

They have long ones for their trucks.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best shocks, in any class, I have come across in 2 decades plus of racing is the current Kyosho tripple-cap dampers!!!

No losi shocks are meant to be the best. Thats why alot of people run them on there s4's and x6's and x5's and some peope on bj4's

I personally like the losi shocks. Just for the reason i find them so much easier to rebuild and fill easier. But to get the best of your shocks id advise using nortech racing whities 'o' rings

pmsl! people say losi shocks are the better choice because they can consistantly build them to a similar standard each time [they are easier to build the same each time ]. and ash a lot of people use them on x6's because that is what the team drivers use so setups are easier to follow etc. whereas the team drivers use them for the reason highlighted above [consistancy] plus most have all the springs and pistons and spares etc. for them.

Dont bully me ive just got out of bed and my brain hardly works at the best of times. I highly agree wth lil ben for best results use nortec whities, there super super super smoooooooooooooooooooooth.

I've never had a problem with Associated shocks personally? Schumacher shocks were always a bit of a nightmare, but Losi and Associated shocks were always good and i don't think you can go wrong with either of them!

no i have never had problems with AE ones either. them being my personal choice on my x6

i'm with roger. The new kyosho shocks fitted with nor-tech whities are really smooth and easy to build consistantly.

So what buggy is it? the only one i know with silly front shocks was the old traxxas TRX1 i had. Lovely car, the chassis was awesome, bit of a fugly shell mind!

I agree with Ben, Ash needs that book.

I prefer Losi shocks, but the difference between Losi/AE doesn't justify switching shocks on a B4. but on the X-6 where I was starting from scratch back when me and Dan first got them, Losi shocks are easier to dial in.... bigger tuning range in pistons and springs.

But its all personal taste, I personally struggle to build two AE shocks the same first time, always end up doing them 2-3 times before finishing..

Besides the Traxxes, the tamiya Dynastorm had long front shocks.

I personnally like the TRF501 shocks but I must agree with the majority here : Losi shocks are by far the easiest to work on and have a good tuning range. i always thought AE were good (coming from Schumacher shocks) but the Losi's are just so much easier to get consistant. Just consider when you want to put internal limiters in your shocks : it's a no-job with Losi compared to AE shocks.

If you go for Kyosho shocks : take the 3-ring shocks from the RB5. The ones I had on my ZX5 in 2006 were almost as bad as the stock shumachers in the 90'ies.
