Breaking back in to 1/10 2wd buggy racing, what budget Brushless 17.5t and lipos?
I've just started getting back in to racing after a hiatus of around 20 years, it's quite shocking to think it's that long!
I had a paddle about 5 years back but life and work got in the way again but last year my awesome gf got me a buggy again after probably getting sick of me talking about the old days and I've enjoyed bashing around with it so fancy getting back in to competing. Went along to York the other night (our nearest club) and loved it, so even though last meeting is this sat (and the only thing I have to run is my thunder tiger phoenix) I'm going to crack on next season and get racing. I've bought a cougar sv2 and am loving building it, I've bought a radio and speedo, I'm going to be racing in the 2wd stock/blinky class with a 17.5t brushless motor. What budget motor and lipos can anyone suggest, bearing in mind last time I raced was with nicads and 540 modified motors! I do have a lipo charger and the speedo I have is sensored. I don't want cheap junk, especially batteries i'd like to last, the motor I'd probably want to stay in the class for a fair while. |

MB have got an excellent deal on these 17.5 motors at the moment:

In my cars I run shorties and find that my Turnigy Ultimates are every bit as good as my Orions and £15 a pack cheaper. http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...Approved_.html Cheers, Ian |

You can't go too far wrong with speed passion gear. 30 quid should get you a 17.5, and maybe budget another 60 quid for 2 decent sets of lipo cells with a 40 - 50c rating.
Things have moved on beyond imagination in the last few years. You will be blown away by the performance and low maintenance of modern electrics! |

If you got the shorty lipo as per the link, you'll probably need to get one of these as well http://www.racing-cars.com/pp/New_Ca...SV2/U4215.html as the SV2 is designed for side by side saddle lipo (which are bigger than a shorty and it'll move around a lot in the 'nest' that comes in the kit).

Seriously... 30 quid for a 90c 4600mAh shorty lipo. I remember when a good set of 3000 NiMh would cost over twice that! |
