Default 6 APRIL - CLUB

Hi All,

Just a reminder that our summer calendar starts from this coming sunday 6 April.

I believe we should be racing on the dirt track, but could be weather dependant.

Please try and arrive at the track by 10am so we can start racing by 11am at the latest.

Due to regional racing the 2014 summer dates will not all fall on the second and last sunday of the month so please check the calendar!

Can't make this one. Will be flying to Seattle on 5th April

Broken Lazer too, rear end got ripped off by someone at Herts astro track, not happy.

Feedback on the 22-4. 7.5T is way too slooooooow, the car is heavier than my Lazer. I got the lazer out and I was like, wow, I am back, I just could not drive the 22-4 fast. Then before any race the Lazer was totalled (broken rear wishbone and shock cap)

Just ordered a 5.5T for the 22-4 hoping that will improve. Frank Root suggested nothing lower than a 5.5T in this car.

Have fun in Seattle.

My guess would be that your out on your gearing if a 7.5 is slow in the 22-4, particularly if the same motor is speedy in your Lazer.

Having said that I used to normally run a 6.5 when I had my 4wd, and 7.5 in the 2wd. A 5.5 will be ummmm, quick!!

I have a 6.5 in my Lazer and a 7.5 in my 22-4 - different motors. From what I have read, the 22-4 is better suited to a 5.5T.

The 22-4 is 200g heavier than the Lazer. That is almost like carrying around another battery. I figured I can turn down a 5.5, but I can't turn up a 7.5. I am actually running the 7.5 on a 21 tooth pinion - I don't recall the gear ratio but this is higher than TLR advise in the manual. I also turned the boost right up on ESC for the 7.5 and still I could not clear the triple. It felt very underpowered. It was also running hotter than I'd like with the boost up. With the Lazer, a quick flip of the power gets me from one corner to the next very quickly, you can see the car accelerate and it feels great to drive.

I guess this is my preferred driving style - more aggressive with lots of power. This is why I prefer the higher C batteries. It is not so much the continuous discharge rating I look for, but more the high burst C rating as that is how most of us drive on the track. I actually have a 25C battery and it feels like driving a dead horse around the track.

I think putting a 5.5 HPI in the Losi will change this. Those motors are known for being quite quick too.

Was a good day, despite realising a few things had broke on my car when I got home!!

Well done to Nathan for being the only one who seemed to find any grip all day long
