Default 2wd final round at A1 Raceway

Pre-booking has already gone live on the next venue of the championship so let’s take a closer look at what racers can expect at A1 Racing Club.

Grantham R/C Car Club or A1 Racing Club in its present form was started in 2005 racing Nitro cars in the grounds of a local pub, using a temporary track. Within a year a permanent venue had been found next to the A1 at Grantham and construction started of a purpose-built clay nitro track.
The club became popular with nitro racers across the East Midlands hosting regular Tuesday evening club racing and various regional nitro events.
In 2009 after nearly three years of managing a clay track in the British climate the track level was raised with over 800 tonnes of soil and a full AstroTurf track installed with drainage. With the advent of brushless technology and Short Course Trucks our members attentions turned to electric racing and a separate AstroTurf 1/10th Off Road track were constructed in 2011 along with a hardcore parking area. Eventually by 2015 with nitro numbers dwindling the 1/10 track was gradually extended growing to the size it is today of 1200m2. With different grades of Astroturf and an undulating layout the track is challenging yet rewarding.
Since 2011 the club has hosted regular rounds of the 1/10th off road Regionals and rounds of the UK Short Course Nationals and was the home of the Iconic Revival from its start in 2014 until 2018. In line with the continued development of the club, 2019 see’s the introduction of an indoor pitting, a roof on our rostrum and upgraded LED Flood lighting allowing our weekly Tuesday evening club racing to run from early April until late September every year.
