Default Where and what please?

Hi All, looking for a bit of advice if you can please!

A few years ago I took my son along to watch some racing at Seaham on a Sunday and he got interested, we bought him a car but tbh he didn't really bother with it and just wanted to bash it around the streets. A couple of years ago he wanted a Nitro car to bash around and we bought an Ansmann Virus 2.0 as it was fairly cheap, he used it a handful of times got bored and it died in my garage.

He has recently just come to live with me from his Mum and I'm trying to get him interested in things to keep him on the straight and narrow (he's 17 next month) and he said he would like to have a go at racing!

We have his car in at Phills models due to pick up tomorrow and I'm fairly certain it probably doesn't fit into any classes of racing in the NE, so a few questions if anyone could advise please!

Any clubs that do Nitro cars, and if so any classes his would fit in until we replace?
If not and its all Electric what are the options for racing in the NE?

Thanks for anyone who has gotten this far without falling asleep, I'm sure I'll be asking plenty more over the coming weeks. (We'll probably visit if that's allowed prior to racing too).

We did visit NEAM at Seaham last time now I recall and we had a B4 and B4.1 I think.

I've just found an old Schumacher Cat on my shelves in the garage but assume this is probably no use these days.

its a shame you didn't post this earlier as you could have come along to Benfield today and watched a few heats of the winter series,

it would have given both yourself and your son a chance speak to some of the driver and see how interested he is before investing in a buggy.

as for Benfield Closing soon:
it looks like Steven Knows something about Benfield that I don't know .

Thanks Gents, when is the next meeting that we could pop along to?

Assuming both Benfield next Sunday daytime and Seaham Sunday evening?

We may come along to both to see what kit people are using and to see what he thinks. I'm willing to invest if he is genuine about it, anything to get him interested in something!

I've had a little read around and 2wd looks fairly popular so we would probably look to see what is popular for people and go down those lines.

Hi Benfield Runs on a Friday evening 6.30-7pm until 10.30pm
Seam run on a Sunday evening.

I would suggest you look at 2wd as its the most popular at the moment

Paul

Thanks for that, we'll definitely pop along, I may attempt to build the old one in the garage for him to start with, before splashing money on a decent kit.

We have an old Schumacher Cat somewhere which whilst wouldn't be anywhere near competetive it would give him a taster.
