Default Noob advice on a 2wd buggy

Hi guys & girls,
I've been hanging around the forum for a little while now but this is my first post.
In the past I've owned a Hyper 7, RC8 and an RC8b which I used to use at CMCC, I've never raced but used to put in some good practice hours on the track.
Now after a little while away I've decided I'd like to try 1/10th 2wd as I feel it will help my driving skills and get me racing.
There seems to be alot of choice and options available and this is where your help and expertise comes in!!
The options I have are to either buy and RTR such as the b4 brushless rtr, to buy second and put a decent spec kit together or blow the budget on new gear!
If I buy the rtr over time I'll probably spend the same again upgrading it to FT spec.
If I buy second hand gear I'll probably get alot more for my money but I dont know what to buy.
And if I buy new and blow the budget is it too much for a noob?
I really like the look of the TLR22 although the saddle packs in the mid mount config puts me off, I also like the Cougar sv and the B4FT although I know this is popular it seems a little dated now in comparison to the other 2?
As you can see I dont really know so your opinions and advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Ben

Buy the Losi 22, put a cheap EZrun system in it, run it in rear motor config and when you're more comfortable with the car try it mid motored .....

How can you go wrong ?

The TLR22 is nice for sure, its the cost and availability of the saddle packs that puts me off. I was under the impression that generally speaking the mid mount config is better suited to high grip astro like CMCC where i'll use it?

Also with the EZrun systems being sensorless are there any issues with cogging?

Many thanks

Ben

I never had any cogging probs with my Ezuns, did run two of them until recently.

V good affordable set ups (£50 for the 9t 35a from HK on the bay )

Personally i'd go 2nd hand, that way when you sell it and change to the next model, you won't lose as much on the changeover.

Gotta be Associateds B4 for me... top quality product from a company who should know!!

I'd go for used with as many extras/spares I could get and stick an EZrun in it... I run a B4 with a Novak 5.5 lite and lipo, it sure is quick, but to get my skills up and running I first used a Novak 10.5... when I eventually wanted to go quicker, I dropped in the 5.5 and it handles just as good if not better and is fantastic to pilot..!

The B4 speaks for itself as it is still very popular(& very competitive)so hints/tips & spares are readily available trackside and on every off-road forum..!

I am swaying towards a second hand b4FT to keep costs down, anyone got any experience of racing electric at CMCC? I know its predominantly a RallyX club but I'm sure they race electric there too!!
Failing that, does anyone know of anywhere else close to covetry that races 1/10th offroad?

Thanks in advance

Ben

+1 for ezrun +1 for used b4 ft but id spend that little extra an get the 8.5 as ezrun motors are about 2/3 as quick as normal motors + you can turn the timming an punch down on the programe card to make it sloower until you get some experience, ive been ruuning the 5.5 in my b44 for the last 2 years an not once has it ever let my down and have only just upgraded to speedpassion yesterday
