Default WORM Racing to become Mendip RC Raceway

Latest news regarding the WORM Racing club in Weston-super-Mare

The WORM Racing club was founded about 18 months ago as the offroad section of long standing MMMRC (Mendip Model Motor Racing Club) in Weston-super-Mare.

At that time the onroad section of the MMMRC club was run by a committee who were interested in building an offroad track to add to their large scale onroad track, but had no manpower to complete the task. A few of us heard and jumped at the chance to get involved, and WORM Racing was born!

A year or so on, and at the end of October this year the MMMRC committee held it's AGM. Shortly before this conversations had begun privately regarding the future of the MMMRC club, and the committee's wish to stand down and pass on the club to new blood.

As of the AGM on the 28th October, the MMMRC club was officially taken on (in very positive and good spirited fashion) by an entirely new committee made up of the guys involved in WORM Racing offroad section. Since then we have been working hard to re establish the foundations of the club to secure it's future going forwards...and can officially announce that WORM Racing is now being full amalgamated into the newly named Mendip RC Raceway.

As a result we are now running the entire Mendip site, and all it's fantastic facilities, which include:
  • Large scale onroad track which is used every year by pretty much all the onroad sections of the BRCA for national meetings, plus a few other notable events such as the Schumacher BTCC championships.
  • 1/10th electric offroad track used to host club racing and BRCA regionals, plus a few new special events to be announced very soon.
  • Covered pitting.
  • Onsite cafe serving hot and cold food & drinks at all race meetings.
  • Trackside camping all year around.
  • Members access to all facilities all day every day when not being used for race meetings.
  • Plus many more!

There is a lot of work to do to regenerate the site, and this work has already begun to prepare things ready for a growing calender of exciting events in 2014.

We have a new website (still work in progress, but developing as fast as we can) www.mendiprcraceway.co.uk and the original WORM Racing facebook page has also just been renamed and rebranded to match!

The Mendip club has traditionally been an IC/nitro/petrol based club, but we intend to extend and grow this to add focus on the currently more popular electric classes as well.

In terms of offroad racing, nothing has changed...we are still holding our fortnightly club days, BRCA regionals and other offroad events, however the club days now also include electric onroad classes as well which we hope will boost numbers and help the club as a whole generate some much needed new life and energy!

It's exciting times as far as we're concerned...and we look forward to seeing some new faces at Mendip RC Raceway really soon!

P.S. Jimmy and other oOple mods...any chance of getting Mendip RC Raceway added to the club section BTW...We'd like to keep the WORM racing section so we can re-route people to the new Mendip section from it, and the WORM Micro club we also run will be using the WORM racing section instead from now on!
