Just to second the Alphaline batteries, I had one of them for about 5 years that was still going strong despite being abused and just left in the shed to discharge itself etc over winter and I only replaced it because I dropped it and it cracked! I went for the 115Ah version this time as I want to use it when camping as well now and not just charging over a weekend.
If it's a marine one you go for (with the twin terminals) they're deep cycle and starting batteries so you won't do any damage using them to jump 1:1 cars either.

So will you damage a leisure battery then if you used it to jump your car if it was flat ? whereas a marine battery being used would't damage it ?

From what I understand a traditional leisure battery is designed internally to do deep discharge and doesn't really like the large current demands of engine starting whereas a car battery is designed to give a large current in one go to start the engine and doesn't like being deep discharged and then there are the dual use oones (like the marine battery) which are the best of both worlds and can do both happily.
I'm sure someone that knows a lot more about it than me will come along and explain it better!

Ive always used a cheapy 12v from the local scrap yard. I do ask for the newer of the bunch and they've always sorted me out.
*Touch wood* im yet to not last a weekends racing.. however i do only charge my gear at 5 amps, and that happens roughly 5 times each of the days so not alot is being used!! £10 for the last two years of charging.. that'l do me! |

Regular car battery trickle charger will work perfectly.
