Default bueshless oiling

Hi what is best period to oil the bearing on a brushless motor.

I ran for the first time off road and was amazed by the speed and duration and the motor did not run hot.

Thanks

Matt

Unless you tun it somewhere very wet/dirty/dusty it'll quite possibly only need oiling something like once a year. If that.
I've only oiled one motor in the 5 years i've been back doing R/C. And that was after finishing a race in the pouring rain.

Usually the seals on the bearings should keep all of it out, as long as you keep on top of cleaning stuff off the motor shafts.

Thanks, I used to race 20 years ago with the brushed motors, and used to oil them every couple of runs.

Would that be case for the main bearings on the car, they have red seals (Schumacher)

Thanks

Matt

Bearings on the car would depend on what's fitted and how well protected they are.
But if they have seals on both sides (2RS) rather than steel sheilds, they should go a long time between oiling.
Again, that's dependant on how/where you run them. I usually run them to death then get new ones as they are so cheap. (Complete set for any of my cars is less than 20 quid, most expensive single bearing is only about 40 or 50p).
Opening 2RS bearings up to oil them usually damages the seal too. So it can be a false economy.

Pretty sure brushed motors of yore ran open bearings. No seal at all....... i can remember oiling mine too. Two or three times per race meet.

I had an issue with my lrp x20 and had to oil mine after a couple of years, had to dismantle motor and used gt85 to flush out the grit on the can and put a drop or two of light 5 wt or 10 wt oil in.the other bearing isnt as easy to get to but rather than remove i just used the oil and didnt flush out but appears to have done the job.
