Default olympic rc mini's

Just sitting with laptop and watching the athletics, can see what looks like rc cars in the infield, on to google and http://www.motorward.com/2012/08/min...olympic-fleet/

and as part of my job I've driven the full size versions which have the equivalent of 204bhp which is 'interesting in a front wheel drive car with SO much weight over the rear axle!

Don't know what chassis the RC version is based on but it looks to be 1/4 or 1/5 scale.

Seen them now. All THREE of them. Saw one pootling across the field as it wasnt going very fast s had a Javelin sticking out of it. Bigger than i`d expected to 5th scale i`d say.

There's a bit of controversy about these at the games, apparently the olympics are supposed to be advert free however the mini Is so well recognised that there are a few people not happy about it, probably as this Is the version made by BMW and not the iconic early mini!
I just think that it's a great idea to use them! Wonder if there's any well known drivers driving them??!

They are being driven by school boys from 2 London public schools.

There was a feature on it on the London BBC news at 6:45 for anyone that's interested.
