Default First timers

Hi, glad there is a session, I am targeting this one for first race in over 20 years. I will have my enthusiastic 8 year old in tow, who will be racing his uncle's 25 year old Ultima Pro - he's learning all the time but apologies to anyone he 'takes out' during the race. Meanwhile I am trying to piece together a new rc10 to be ready in time, wading through hugely complex instruction manuals on chargers, LiPos and ESCs, frantically ordering odds and sods to get the thing going like wires that are long enough to reach the motor...Sunday could be it's first outing...

Will be good to see you and your son on Sunday.

No worries about running into each other, we still all do that on occasions even when we should really know better
Which charger and electrics did you go for in the end? Am sure someone at the club will be able to assist if your still in the dark about settings, but;
Lipo's should be charged at 1c, so 5000mah battery is charged at 5amps, while a 6500mah battery can be charged at 6.5amps. With the charging to cut off when the battery hits 8.4volts, which should be the default setting for a 2s LIPO on the charger.

Seems strange that the kit wiring isn't long enough on the ESC, I thought you got miles of wire in the box.

Don't tell me you've managed to squeeze a battery under the seat as well as your RC gear?!

I believe Justin may have a RC10B5M, but I could be wrong!

the ‘bottomless pit on wheels‘ is sold now so i have even less storage.(if thats possible)

ill leave you guessing on how i can cram all my rc stuff, car, coffee and a battery on my new bike.

ps, could the motor wires on justinwoods car be lengthened to fit the motor?

That looks rather smart Ben

It depends a little on the type of esc and motor that Justin is using, but on most set-ups you can change the wire lengths from the speed controller (or motor) to suite to application.

Hi, I bought the speed passion combo, hopefully won't be a laughing stock. I managed to charge up the LiPo with a Core charger, didn't burn the house down, so ok. I just need longer wires to get from the ESC to the Motor, otherwise I would have to mount the ESC on the battery. I will show you on Sunday and you can have a good laugh at the mess of the job I am going to make wiring it up! I just need that parcel to arrive from MB models with bits to finish the job. It's a B5M. If I can't get used to driving the B5M I could dig out my own 25 year old Kyosho (yes we have two!) and see whether I can beat my son!

Good to see I'm not the only one with an old school car

Also I have created the world's dodgiest field charger so am one step closer to being able to fend for myself (until something Breaks)

Ahhh with all the BRCA stuff going on about lips and charging etc in another section of the forum, you post that photo my head is in my hands!

I will bring some danger tape to fence of an exclusion zone round your pits on sunday

Turns out you won't need the danger tape yet as the cheap eBay lipo can only handle a 1amp charge

On the plus side, the rc10 has some decent wheels, which make it look like it's from a MAD max film

Big thanks to all who could come today, good days racing looked as if most had an enjoyable time. good to see a couple of new racers justin and ethan with some old school cars

Added thanks to everyone who helped throughout the day as alway, worth mentioning as probably no one saw them doing it was carl and simon who set about filling the bigger holes in the track 1st thing and it certainly made a difference!

great to see simon passing some of his skill (some darker than others) on to bethany during the day….7 laps 1st time out.

Results will be posted on the championship thread this week.
