Apologies if the pictures are too large. If they are giving anyone any problems then I'll see about resizing them and editing the posts.

Ok, here's some more of my collection. I have massive love for old Yokomos and here's some of mine:

Lovely original YZ834B

Recently restored original spec YZ870C

Heavily modified YZ10 Works 92. So much has been modified or upgraded on this car that there is too much to list here.

YZ10 94:

Shout out if you want to see anymore

Here's some more of mine to cast your eye over:

Nice original Tamiya Avante with Technigold Motor and CPR 100F Unit.

Highly modified Tamiya Manta Ray. Apparently this was quite an accomplished racer for it's previous owner back in the early 90s. Fitted with FRP lower and upper decks, carbon prop shaft, one way in the front, ball diffs, alloy motor mount, Hi Cap dampers and much more. It originally came fitted with a Challenger 12t motor which was past it so I fitted a period Kyosho 12T item and this thing flies on 2s lipo and the handling really is very good indeed. The shell is a Yokomo YZ10 item modified to fit the chassis.

Nice original Tamiya Super Champ with some alloy parts.

New built original Tamiya Top Force.

More to come.............................................. ......................................

Wow what a nice collection!! Congrats
Also those shots are super nice, you can almost see the ants lurking in the floor!!! What camera are you using?

What brand was the Challenger motor, Reedy? If my memory does not fail Reedy's where 19 turns, man those motor where awesome! With a little timming they where very fast. I had like 3 or 4 of those until a few years back. I missed the old days when brushed motors ruled, they needed a lot of mantainance but that is just part of the hobby. I remember winding my own rotors and experimating with different wire gages and number of winds and wires, sometimes I've built a complete fail, but sometimes they ended up being very good.
Does anyone know how to weld wind wires into the comm tabs? I once tried with common wire solder but when the motor heated up it just created a mess inside of molten solder.

I think you only have to use silver solder, which requires higher temps to melt.

Yes I kinda miss the black art of motor prep too

Hmmm, that would be very tricky not to burn the comm while soldering te silver. I will get a silver soldering rod and give it a try on a spare comm and see.
BTW I started a thread just to talk about the black art of brushed motors

Thanks Optiman I'm using an Olympus E400 to take the pictures. It's old but a nice bit of kit.

Not sure on the Challenger motor. Still got it somewhere so will dig it out and confirm.

A couple of recent additions whilst I'm here:

This is a Kyosho Optima Mid with a difference. Fitted with an MRC Santana shell and lovely Polaris alloy rims. Reedy Modified motor and Futaba MC 112B ESC fitted. I have quite a few Mid's that need new pictures taking of them or restoring.

A rare one this. It's an MRC MRX 2WD from the mid to late 80s.

Still have some more to stick up over the next few days.

I only have one vintage ride, but all my racing gear is still with it, and she runs.

My up'd to death lazer.

Fitted with ball diff in the rear, one way diff in the front... Fibre lyte chassis, ally wishbone hangers, slipper, ball raced UJ covers and extended swing shafts. Traxxas shocks And the coveted (at the time) black Hpi spiked wheels.

Needs a new shell though.
