If they support USB 'on the go' (OTG), then it should work.

Default Tekin RS Pro / Turnigy motor issues

Hi, I have a Tekin RS Pro and a Redline Gen 2 13.5T motor. This worked fine but the motor was worn out. This is where my problems started.

I bought a Turnigy Trackstar Outlaw 13.5T motor and the ESC would not pick up the sensor so was cogging badly. Tried new sensor wire - still nothing. Plugged the Tekin back in - works straight away. So wire and ESC must be OK - bad new motor?

They replaced the motor with another Outlaw, but exactly the same happened. Tried an older Tekin motor - works fine. Tried the Redline again - works fine. Maybe another duff motor??

Replaced with a Turnigy Trackstar (different to the outlaw) - EXACTLY the same again! I've reloaded the Tekin ESC s/w - still the same. It's also definitely set to Sensored Only too. I simply swap motors back and it's perfect.

All three Turnigy motors work in the forwards direction if operated so ABC are correct. Am I missing something, or are the new Turnigy's simply not compatible with the older RS Pro?

Thanks in advance.

You can tell if the sensore are working/connected properly as the three LED on the right hand side of the ESC display glow faintly when the motor is turned by hand. It's a great function.

Windows (PC) tablet or Android? If it's running windows (7/8/8.1/10) then just run the .exe If it's Android go to the app store and get the new version from there.

Buddy of mine had the RS (non pro) and it ran really hot with a Tekin 10.5 Gen 3. We reloaded the software, did a reset/r-calibrate and it was fine after that. Worth a shot?

Thank's for your help.

I bought a new esc since that time; but will keep the RSpro as spare and reload the software as you said.

Latest Android app has seemingly removed data viewing..not sure if by intent.

When will the new Hotwire 3.0 Bluetooth be release?
As I'm getting fed up with trying to find a cheap android tablet that will connect to the current Hotwire.

Tekin website states a 4lb vehicle limit https://www.teamtekin.com/rs.html (i'd assume you'll be under that anyway!) and a motor limit of 8.5 you should be good at that:

"Controls: Forward/Brake/Reverse
Input Voltage: 2-3S LiPo / 4-9S NiMH-NiCD
BEC: 6.0v / 7.4v @ 5.5amps
Motor Limit Brushless Mode 2S: 8.5 Turn 2-pole 36mm Can
Motor Limit Brushless Mode 3S: 10.5 Turn 2-pole 36mm Can
Motor Limit Brushed 2S: 12 Turn 36mm Can
Motor Limit Brushed 3S: 20 Turn 36mm Can
Max Chassis Weight: 4lbs / 1815g
Throttle Profiles: 7 choices (on board)
Brushed Modes: FWD Only / FWD-REV / FWD-REV Delay
Brushless Modes: FWD Only / FWD-REV / FWD-REV Delay
Dimensions: 1.0 x 1.3 x .51in / 26 x 34 x 12.9mm
Weight: .85oz / 24g"

Then again, they don't show 4WD buggy:

"OFF ROAD ON ROAD ROCK CRAWLING
 1:10 2WD Buggy 1:12 2WD Pan Car 1:10 4WD Trail
 1:10 2WD Truck 1:10 2WD Pan Car 1:10 4WD Comp
 1:10 2WD Short Course 1:10 2WD Formula 1
1:10 4WD Touring Car"

The RS Pro was designed prior to lipo's. It can handle the motor but may run not and thermal depending on your setup.

Those ESC's are worth their weight in gold still since the drag race guys love them.

The RSX is the new hotness and is equipped with a CNC'd heatsink housing and cooling fan as needed and is more suited to that application.

It "can" but isn't something I'd recommend. If you run a good setup and don't over boost the car it'll be fine. If you're on high grip astro and are boosting your 8.5 to the moon, it may thermal.

In any 4wd mod car I recommend the RSX to have plenty of head room on temp.

I have a 6.5 gen 3 motor on which the magnet came away from the rotor and smashed into pieces, I’ve only ran it at around 8 or so meetings. It happened after a very small jump of approximately 1foot high and wasn’t a hard landing or anything so can’t imagine this was the cause but what else could have made this happen
