Associated V2 shocks better than old ones?
The title says it already, are the new V2 shocks better than the older ones, especially, do they leak less?
I know this would better fit into the Associated forum but because many here use the V2 as well I think this question is also right here. |

I hope so,ordered up a set of v2 shocks as my v1 rear shocks like to dump the oil over my rear b44 arms on quite a regular basis

I'm not sure what you guys are doing to blow AE shocks so much. I've been using them for years and the only time they have ever leaked is when I didn't build them correctly (ie cap not screwed down all the way. As long as they are built correctly and bled properly, they will stay leak free.

yoke shocks?
ive the v1's and ive had to rebuild them after 1st time out, 2nd time out they held together but as you say the problem is the clip coming out. when they failed 1st time, all 4 failed. |

I think the new V2 shocks are loads better than original FT ones. I tried on a few occasions to run the V1 shocks, and always had difficulty bleeding them consistently, the seals staying together, etc. I built the new V2's roughly three weeks ago and have put 8 track days on them with no issues.

I've run V2's on my B44 for four race meetings without a glitch. They are a doddle to build and I would say that they are even better/easier than the Losi shocks I run on my X6.

Actually I found that with the V2 caps they get a little bit vacuum (pulls the piston back in). With the V1 caps they push the pistons a bit out. I'm thinking a little too much oil is better than too little. The perfect thing is a "dead" shock, correct me if I'm wrong
Another thing I've noticed about the V1 shocks is that the bodies are not perfectly straight on the inside! Try using Losi pistons and you will feel that they pinch at some places... not good! With AE pistons though I've never had any problems. But changing O-rings is very unpractical of course. Hence I much prefer Losi shocks. But don't get me wrong, AE makes great stuff!!!

i run with the original´s FT for a year... realy a torment... it seems that with less check up, better they stay.... but sometimes they leak a lot...
3 weeks ago, a run with v2.. fantastic... no leak at all... with hard rebound, no rebond etc etc, no leak... one note: i rebulid the new v2 with old o´rings, and its good! i advise...

It's been a few months now since the V2's were out - how are the team finding them?
Are you still using them and any base setups you would care to share? |

There going ok, I'd say not any faster or slower than the Losi but they do react differently which is good on some tracks not so good on others.
Basic set up is either a Ghea #2 piston all round or a losi red, 35wt front and 30/25wt rear. Blue springs all round. |

Are you finding that you run the same shock positions on the rear and will you be sticking with them? Under what conditions are you finding the AE better than the Losi - and vice versa? Cheers dude |

The V1's and V2's don't really perform differently, the V2's are just easier to maintain and are more reliable
|

So what you are saying is that the only real tuning option is the difference between Losi and AE Springs lol....nice, and Losi springs will fit AE shocks, just with the different spring retainers, which do fit AE shocks. You can get Losi collars, which fit AE thread shocks as well.

Hello people!
I have bought a set of these V2 shocks, and I am curious, what oil should I use in it? I have built the kit with the n2 pistons, and asso 35WT oil seems to be too thin. Could those who are using them allready tell us, what setup they use? Which pistons and what oil? (I will use them on a Mad Rat )
