10th scale buggy, Which to go for?
Hi Guys and Girls.
ive been out of electric rc for a fair few years now, think the prime cars then were the RC10B3, Tenth Tech preditor, Losi XXCR BK... you get the idea. Well ive got the electrics spare (Manly from my 8th scale trucks) and just got my self a speedo on the way thanks to mallet What im looking at is ideally 4wd, as i race 8th truggys, but im ok with a 2wd. Price is a big factor, i dont really want to go over £130 used and £200 new ideally Ive been looking at some of the cheap 2wd range, such as the mad rat for £45, the thundertiger RC10B2/B3 clone (i used to have a B2 and B3) thats about £100, TraxxASS bandit (None brushless one) fror around £150, thats just to name a few new. but 4wd ide love the Cat SX, but for £300 a certain figer would rise , Same for the durango, so 2nd hand would be better for theese. how about the HPI Cyber, it looks like the HB D4 worlds, but takes sticks , this worth the cash? Which would you recomend for me to get? my only requirement i can think of, it must take stick pack Nimh or lipo packs, Saddle is a big no no. thats the durango and B44 out then Also availabilty of spares is a must, thats why i was thinking the bandit? thanks for your help. A second hand Cat SX it is then!!? Well that's the way I'd go if you want a 4wd that takes stick lipos. They're available at anywhere between £100 and £200 hopefully with a few spares too.
I was going to get a new Cyber 10b, but as they don't come with a slipper clutch and some of the other fancy bits I went with the Cat.

Yeah, ive been looking alot at the cyber, but your right it dosnt come with a slipper which i would like, but not for £50, that puts it close to Cat SX money, so could be worth spending the extra for one of those, i know Shumacher are good on spares as i can still get some spares for my bosscat (Saddle packs, i want stick nimh/lipo)

There was a Tamiya DB-01R in the sales sectin that was in your price range. That is stick, pretty tough and easy to get spares for. You could also look out for a Lazer SP as they seem to be going pretty cheaply these days and are also stick pack layout.
Edit, the DB-01R isn't quite as cheap as i thought but here is the link anyway! http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35087 |
