Glad I wasn't the only one who got stung by MPI! Built yours yet? Any parts missing? Mine is 75% done, up to the steering, and was missing a small metal pin from the spur gear shaft.

I ran mine at the Revival with a 13.5t motor. I found that you had to run the layshaft diff pretty tight to stop it slipping, leading to a stiff rear diff action. It is a pretty sensitive adjustment too. I did not have any other issues with slipping diffs or belts, I did go one hole tighter on the rear belts as I felt the kit setting was too loose. I am looking forward to the transmission upgrade.......

Not a huge fan of kit Lipo holders, they waste too much space for my liking and make transmission maintenance tricky - I'm using some of my own design, freeing up around 10mm of room for electrics.

Same here. When the spring washer collapses the adjustment becomes extremely sensitive as there tension rises. A stronger washer would help with the sensitive adjustment, but the diff stiffness wouldn't be solved. Seems to drive fine with the stiff rear diff in my case though. I have turned down the punch on my ESC. Makes me wonder if Masami and other just used the diff as a slipper clutch back in the day. Nothing lasts forever anyway. I'm pretty sure my Procat diff slipped a lot back then. This was before slipper clutches, and the peak torque from impacts is very high.

Hot tip: Buyg extra wings, or use a more durable wing for driving. My wing is completely destroyed after two packs.

Or that. I've traction rolled about five times, and the wing is a mess. I'd buy a 1mm lexan version.

I'm running the car with a 19x1 brushed motor (Atlas) on grass with the original tyres, yet I am suffering with two persistent problems:

1. The front belt slips (load clicking noise) unless I am very gentle with the application of throttle. I cannot move the front gearbox any further forward physically (and the belt has little slack), nor tension the rear belts any more without binding the transmission.

2. The spur gear diff melts around the balls.

I've built tons of ball diffs in the past and used the same run in procedure with the Cat. The diff action was lovely and smooth and there was no slip (rotating by hand). But as soon as it is under load from the motor, after a couple of minutes, I can feel the slip in the transmission and sure enough, the spur diff is hot as hell and if I'm too late in stopping, a sticky plastic mess.

Any advice on what others are doing would be appreciated.

- Tim.
My spur gear has melted around the balls too. I was running a 10t motor but think the slipper was too tight

The spur diff melts if it's too loose and slipping a lot. The temperature where I live is about 14°C when I drive, so it's not exactly hot, but there's no sign of damage on my spur gear. It slips occasionally. I can hear it if I punch it on launch. I have tightened it slightly beyond a flattened spring washer. I should really add some washers to increase the spring tension without flattening.

I run a 17,5T brushless with a 28 teeth pinion which is the biggest that would fit and all is running well.

Every time I run mine I have to remove the right rear wheel to empty out all the debris that worked its way through the gap between the wheel and hub. It's pretty odd how much crap gets in there, especially since my track is counter clockwise.
