502 x Handling problem
As i nail the throttle on the straight at our club my car tends to pull hard to the left , it can be a handfull unless i back off the throttle.
Now i did bend the right handside front driveshaft a few weeks back , i straightened it as much as i could , but it's not perfect. Could this be the cause of the wayward handling? Also there's a fair amount of slop to the front wheels , i have shimmed this up to the extent that there's very little movement now , i havent tested this since i took it out on Sunday. |

Shaft drive cars tend to have torque steer under hard acceleration.

Possibly a ball diff problem. I would check your diff bearings, plates etc. Also with a ball diff you can have uneven slip between sides that can result in pull one way or the other. Typically if you have assembled it wrong, or if it is coming apart on you.
Also if you get some carpet or dirt jammed in your outdrive where it leaves the gearbox stuff like that can happen at higher power levels. |

Check your servo trim and the adjustment of all turn buckles, if any of these are out the car will not go straight. If they are all fine then its down to slipping diffs, or lack of slip on the clutch.
Further, if your running a high powered motor and nail full throttle the car will kick sideways, all cars do!

I'd check the wheels spin freely when the driveshaft is disconnected from the diff first just to be sure it's not something binding with the wheel or hub.
If there's no problems then a diff rebuild should sort it. |

I know not to nail the throttle as soon as i hit the straight without making sure the car is in a straight line , however when it's straight it will tend to dive to the right.
Cheers , diff rebuild ? |
