Default Transponder position

I've got my first race with the 410 tomorrow and all electrics are in, I've got a speed passion gt2 with probably one of Europes biggest receivers in there so space is tight. I'm thinking about putting my transponder on top of the battery, does anyone have any input on this or even experience of placing it there?

I've seen some people put the transponders on the side and put them on the side of the lipo battery.

I often have mine on top of the servo, but I've seen them sideways too.

Sideways can effect the signal though...

Try it and see, ask race control how strong your signal is.

I run mines on its side, next to the battery and haven't experienced any problems so far. Signal strength hasn't been an issue, although another racer at my club tried his in the same position and was getting a very weak signal. I suppose its down to trial and error.

Thanks chaps, that side onto the battery looks like the way I'll go. I didn't know I could ask race control about signal strength, that's a good bit of info for me.

I've got the same transponder, exactly at the same place, but with the bottom of the transponder facing outwards instead of towards the lipo. No probs either. I thought the "cone" that the transponder sends goes down, so I faced that side outwards, but seems it doesn't matter.

Thumbs up

I have an MRT PT in my 410.
It's located on the chassis, between the front diff and the servo. (Blue light in the pic.)
I shaved the sides and filed a small groove for the wires to fit in.
It's as far forward in the car as can safely be, has a strong signal, and hasn't missed a single lap.

Fair play, that wiring is the dogs!

Mine sits on top of one of the batteries, I never really thought it would work there, but it has never missed a beat. Registers perfectly every pass no matter how quick I run the line!!
