Post Classes and Rules for September 2014

Please have a read of our chosen classes for this winter.
clicky here

Our Friday night club championship allows our members and visitors to compete on a weekly basis in a selection of race classes.

Race Fees (effective from 01/01/15):
£4.00 Full Members
£4.00 Racing Members
£6.00 Non Members

Doors open at 6:00pm with racing underway at 7pm. Racing finishes by 10:00pm (off premises by 11pm please)
Each Championship season consists of 8 qualifying rounds with 5 rounds to count towards end of championship placing.

The classes for 2014/15 will be as follows:-

Flat Pan : 1:10 and 1:12 pan cars open or enclosed wheels, inc GT12
Motor: 13.5bl minimum.
The ESC must be set to run zero motor timing (Blinky mode if available)

Touring: 2 classes same race : 17.5t blinky and 13.5t open (separate championship)
Chassis: Any 1/10th 4wd 190mm touring car chassis
Bodyshell: any touring car style, no GT shells or F1
Tyres: Any rubber tyre
Motor: 13.5t or 17.5t
Electronics: Maximum of 7.2v Nimh/Nicad Batteries - Maximum of nominal 7.4v Lipo Batteries only.

Clubman:
anything that appears too quick will be moved into a more suitable class at discretion of race director
Chassis: Open “moderately paced” class. any chassis allowed
Bodyshell: Any
Esc: Blinky (zero timing)
Motor: 17t bl or slower preferred.
Tyres: Any type of foam or rubber tyre
Electronics: Maximum of 7.2v Nimh/Nicad Batteries - Maximum of nominal 7.4v Lipo Batteries only.

Off Road, 2WD or 4WD split championships:
Chassis: Any 1:10 scale 2wd or 4wd, electric off road buggy or short course truck (combined heats)
Motor: Any Brushed or Brushless Motor.
Esc: Open timing allowed.
Tyres: Any tyres.
Electronics: Maximum of 7.2v Nimh/Nicad Batteries - Maximum of nominal 7.4v Lipo Batteries.
.......
Cars would by default be entered into the specific class that is relevant for them (ie a tourer goes into Touring, an F1 goes into flat-pan etc), unless its obvious that they would be more suitable in the clubman class (eg. if someone is running a tourer with a slow motor and is out of their depth in the touring class). This is the decision of the race director.

Construction:
• Shock towers or protruding screws must be adequately covered to protect the carpet

"Race director has the discretion to place similarly paced cars in the appropriate heat as they see fit"
Cars not fitting the rules or criteria of that class will not score championship points.
General rules for all Classes
Shock towers or protruding screws must be adequately covered to protect the carpet. All screws underneath the car must be countersunk.

All LIPO batteries must be hard-cased and not left unattended when charging

Rules regarding the use of Lipo Batteries:

To maintain the safety of people using these batteries and everyone else who is at the club, the committee have put together the following guidelines to which we would like users to stick to if they decide to use Lipo batteries.
All Lipo batteries should be charged at no more than 1C.
NO discharging of lipo batteries allowed in the pits.
• Any Lipo Battery used must be BRCA approved.
• Any Lipo Battery used must be of the hard cased variety.
• When charging at the club anyone using Lipo batteries must re-charge them in a Lipo sack or a suitable protective container.
• All Lipo batteries must be charged on a charger that is suitable for charging Lipo batteries.
• It is advised that people use a Speed controller which has a Lipo safety cut-off feature or an in-line Voltage cut-off device.
All of these guidelines are designed for the safe usage of Lipo batteries and to prevent accidents. Please follow these guidelines if you intend to use Lipo batteries at the club.

Anyone is eligible to compete in any class but all drivers must have BRCA Insurance which can be obtained through us by becoming a member or sourced by the participant through other means. If new to the hobby then you are allowed to race a maximum of three times before you have to show evidence of having BRCA insurance, we do recommend that anybody participating in radio controlled car racing should get BRCA Insurance as soon as possible.

Nice one Dave - should be a good series. Does that 17t limit in clubman refer to brushless motors?

As off road is doing really well atm, we will be changing the off road class to two separate classes of 2wd and 4wd for the final series of the winter.
Round 1 series 4 starts on the 27 Feb, I will alter the pre booking form after the final Round of series 3.
So the classes available will then be:
2wd, 4wd, clubman, touring and flat pan.

Please understand if numbers are low we will mix 2 & 4.
