2011 Avante re-release
Hi,
Tamiya is going to re-release the Avante. Avante has been like the teenage dream car. But i wondering if it is any good for today racing and track condition ? |

Think it might be a fun car to drive at a vintage race level.
Nothing for "serious" competition though. To fragile, no slipper etc. But it is one of the most beautiful buggys ever imo. |

Have to agree with Fredrik, one the most beautiful cars ever made from Tamiya but nothing for serious todays offroad tracks. Surely not suitable for "hot" brushless motors and although they stiffended the car on some weak points i am sure it will NOT be bulletproof like for example a TRF511.

Puh, Tamiya was maybe first then? Avante was released march 1988.

Nope, Mugen Bulldog was first - it had front, rear, and centre ball diffs and was released in the first half of 1985

Yeah, that had AWDS and motor under the spur gear?
Tamiyas first car with center diff was the Toyota Celica Gr. B from 1987. Correct me if I´m wrong. |

Tamiya may have had the first but kyosho got it to work correctly on the ZX.

Anyway it was useless. In my Vanquish I had to block the center diff. No power under acceleration.

Yes Jimmy, the Mugen beat it by a few months as far as I know, unless the Yankee Electra was released in your part of the world much earlier than anywhere else. I remember reading a review of the car by Alan Harman? I think it was in the old RCMC mag, maybe early 86 or late 85? Long time ago anyway

The Avante is gonna be reaching my shores way sooner than Feb 2011. Most likely within these couple of weeks or even earlier. Feel free to pm me and i will give you the details...

seeing 1/8th and 1/12th scale came out before 1/10th there were quite a few 1/8th car's that had a third diff!!!
the avante will drive just like the original, smooth but not made race!! very heavy |
