I'm booked in for Pro 2wd in the Pre-88 class with the 5 link JRX2 & Post 93 class with the DoubleX - I reckon with all the different classes they'll have to mix them up a bit, so we might end up racing each other?

It would be great to have a race.

I've just booked in, I'm looking forward to seeing the vintage collections people have on display.

Just need to source a decent 12v Battery for my charger, otherwise I might need a bump start at the end of the day.

Looks perfect!

I'm going to be loosing out on 'vintage points' since my JRX2 is running brushless/LiPo & 2.4ghz I did however manage to find another two packs of the slim Trakpower 'golds'... which will hopefully mean I can keep everything charged up & ready to go (must admit I was worried about completing the race distance on these batteries with a less efficient brushed motor)

P.S; have you done a FrSky 2.4ghz conversion on that old Futaba TX?

P.P.S; Please replace your thin shock collers with some of the later 'thick' ones - the thin collers are pretty rare since they are so prone to splitting.

Hi Dan,

We'll see, I'm starting out with a 27t stock and if there's enough left I've a few lower winds to try. 10x2 Checkpoint maybe!!

Anyway, I've had an idea for a shorty conversion. I'll chat to you next Sun about it, see what you think.

Nope, it's still 27Mhz so will hopefully have enough range. It works fine usually.

So far they've been ok, i'm getting some threaded losi shocks on soon.

Peakey - I've sorted a 12v but I'll bring my jump leads

Sorry for the rant guys but i'm not biting lip on this one and point needs making since i've just seen public acknowledgement of it happening here...

there won't be anyone charging from under the bonnet of their 1:1 car at the meeting and there shouldn't be anyone doing it at any r/c meeting where there are other more sensible and practical people around you.

it is one of the most irresponsible things an r/c hobbyist can do because of the massive fire risks involved if a charging battery fails etc etc and having an underbonnet 1:1 car fire in a busy pitting area is a major incident!

if you race outdoors, buy a £40 12V leisure battery next day delivered from ebay, splash out on a small generator if it'll be used more or get over the male pride and ask for help with power from other racers at a meeting... budget issue shouldn't come into it when you spend £££'s on toy cars in first place... its a necessity not optional bling!

After having to sit for 2 hours at a venue after a meeting finished waiting to lock up because some ediot flattened his 1:1 car battery to the point it wouldn't jump with leads or bump on a gravel car park so had to call for breakdown, which on a Sunday evening was scarce, it is a sore subject anyways!

Back to thread...

very nice JRX

Losi is looking good now!

Was great to meet & chat to you Bretts at the Revival meeting - the car looks as immaculately prepared in person as it appears in these posted photos, & looked great on the track with its period paint

The Zippy pack is worth noting - I was using the Gold Trakpowers the same as yours in my JRX2 & they operated fine, even with the 8.5 I was running!

P.S; now you've upgraded to threaded shocks... do you have any plans for the thin shock collers off your old shocks?

Really!!, they are like Hen's teeth and some say the 2GLX is a classic, even Jamie Booth said he used one at a world's in the 80's!!

Dan, I was just not quite fast enough & definitely nowhere near the as fast as either of yours. It was tight on points in our class, just missed out by a couple of crashes as usual so I ended up 4th.

P.S. Shock collars are having a rest in my spares box, and probably never be used again unless I get hold of a short wheel base chassis to build an orginal Jrx2 from spares which I keep thinking about. If you ever need them you know where to find some.

Also, Lipo was a bargain from Hobbyking £17 posted. I just got it to see if it would fit and if my old gold bars were losing any punch.

Yeah it's definitely the same one, I didn't realise they were so well regarded. Although I do remember it feeling like a massive upgrade from my Futaba sport back in the day!

Good to know they can still be useful, now I just need to find a working 27MHz receiver to go with it...and some crystals!

Default It's finished!!

Well, my christmas present to myself was to get a pro painted bodyshell for my vintage losi jrx pro.

It arrived back this morning and a massive massive thanks goes to Darren at ExtremeFx for copying my other bodyshell design onto a Blue Groove Repo Jrx Pro bodyshell.

So, it also concludes the restore into a racer, and it's now pretty much on the pace in it's class against modern 2wd cars.

Final mods since last update have been RC10 worlds axels and steering blocks for B4 wheels, this has worked out well even if its a bit wider.

I'm chuffed to bits!!!!!

Thanks again to Darren, you're a star!!
