Default Lazer Zx ready to rumble

My twin belt optima mid shows great promise. I tested it last week with 2 packs with rwd only and there was no belt skip. So for sure the belt skipping was caused by the new machined pulley for the long belt. My machinist said i can only get a new pulley end of next week..so i decided to move my new arm design and zx5sp hub to my lazer. I received my new la31 3 weeks ago and this was the one part that kept my lazer out of commision.
So here it is in all its glory.

I also tested my lazer last week and it was also awesome. Other than the rear ball diff slipping and lost one kingpin of the zx5 knuckle..the car drived really good. This modern zx5sp c hub is a much better design. I bet no more lost kingpins..

Big air, ace

Dan,

Agree with Iso, zx only had the alloy knuckles but I used throughout the 90's as they were stronger.

Ok if I get a response saying no ride height rules then im racing the beast at the 1066 Hastings winter whip series starting in October. Ive got to do a rebuild but gone for original rear hubs, revised tub, and all other mods that ive mentioned on here, so see how well i do. Im aiming for the A, and if all goes to plan and no over heating from the motor or esc then highly possible.

What revisions did you make to the tub?
What made you switch to original rear hubs? I'm still deciding which rear hubs to build mine with

I found on grass narrower rear worked well but on high grip carpet the rear end wasnt settled so tried original hubs as per manual and back end was dialed.

Tub has had a fractional change on battery layout, basically identical to the original chassis but added a couple of holes and removed a couple for the rearof the gearbox seeing as i dont use those holes. Also revised top deck and is thicker. Changed lipo holders fractionally by making slightly thicker. Cars getting a full rebuild this month ready for the event.

I didn't realise the um519-2 hubs made the rear end more narrow than the standard rear hubs.
I might use them on my Ultima ProXL build instead

Yup, i did mention it when testing.

Anyway, just worked on my car, rebuilt the diffs and doesnt feel fantastic, however wishbones on the rear are zxr and a fraction of slop on ball joints, none on wishbones. Front zero wishbone slop, zero hub slop, fractional ball joint slop and fractional slop when cars fully bottomed out on front giving fraction toe out, spaced it out on hubs but still fractional but zerobump steer anywhere else so caught outby slop. Drive trainfeels great. Cant wait to race it.
