Default Best Buys or Sells

What are the best deals you've had on cars or parts, or the best sales you've had.

I'll start with the near £40 some american chap paid for some random pit box Tamiya stickers off me

And the £50 for a kyosho part that had a 99p sticker on it

I swopped a skateboard for a tamiya boomerang which started me off in RC racing. Bought a mike Reedy prepped motor for cost of postage.

I bought a Cat 2000 off ebay with all the gear. Reason for buying was I noticed in the photos there was a NIP Kinwald Dirtinator motor. I cleaned up the car and sold it on for £10 more than I paid for it and I have a brand new in packet Dirtinator in my collection.

Best buy was a B2 from Ken (Cobra).
£35 with a broken shock tower and no gear cover. CML have the front towers in stock still and the B4 gear cover fits!!
It's may favourite vintage to drive now - even ran it at the recent TORCH national

Sold a Ballistic Buggy plastic rear wing for £40 a few years ago...

Got my hands on a mint Tamiya ta01 chassis for £3 at the boot sale and raced it at the iconic cup this year. Just missed top 10 overall too! More recently, just bought a Tamiya m02 donar chassis for £19, bargain! Don't think I have to explain how much like rocking horse poo they are.

Alright Dan,
H final - which was fair for the pace of the car. But did manage to out qualify 29 others.
Acceleration and braking are okay and hairpins, it's just medium speed and longer corners the rear motor just cannot hold on to the pace of modern cars.
Great fun though.

I bid and won some Tomy Intruder spares on ebay. When I spoke to the guy he told me he had included a couple of other bits in the auction. When I opened the box of what I thought would be bits I had been sent an almost complete carbon chassis car with lots of GPM bits which is now my Bling project. I was also sent the Tomy Fibre Lyte tub chassis which I am currently working on. Plus lots of other Tomy bits which helped to confirm I am a Tomy nut.

I emailed the guy to let him know how grateful I was he sent me the parts, some of which I never knew had existed.

My Tomy collection has now grown vastly, I should hopefully be posting up pics of the full collection over the next few months.

Bought a Turbo Optima for $275.00 about 4 years ago, pictures didnt say anything special about the buggy. After I received the buggy I noticed it was 100% unused with full original celebration chassis, sway bars and belt drive conversion. What really surprised me was the fact that it had never been used before. Is still own that buggy, nut now is the gold Javelin you see in my ID.

Picked up a Tamiya Terra Scorcher on E-bay the year before last year for £15. It was mis-spelt in the listing and in the wrong category. It came in it's original Beatties bag (for anyone old enough to remember) with practically another car in spares and period electrics, charger and batteries.

You can see the resto pictures in the Vintage forum on here. I put them up last month.

This has got to be my biggest bargain.... but also potentially was the cause of me getting into this whole collecting/restoring & racing of vintage R/C cars in the first place - so ultimately responsible for me spending £1000 on vintage R/C cars it as a result..... so perhaps not a bargain after all?

I brought this Clodbuster from the local 'tip' or recycling facility for the princely sum of £2! (back in the days when you could make offers on some of the better stuff they'd keep at the side)

....Of course the Clodbuster didn't arrive in this condition... when I picked it up it had a cracked bodyshell, perished tyres & was in a right state - so it probably cost me another £100 to get it looking like it does in the photo with a new body + other parts (luckily the Bowtie grill & Chevy tailgate were salvageable) - & I did upgrade it with a few choice parts - ball races, ali anti-rotation brackets etc... A story that continues with almost every build I've done since!

I've had many bargains over the years, mostly due to being in the right place at the right time.
Firstly my Yokomo Works 91 Drescher Edition, ex-Jimbo Pearsons works car.
This was given to me for free by the local racer who owned it.

My Predator XT, which was given to me again for free rather than being thrown out.
It had no body and the front diff had been removed so the gearbox top and all parts that attach
to it were missing. Took around 3 years to finally get all the correct parts to put it back together.

Then there's a job lot of cars from someone's attic clearout.
Box on the left was full of spares, box in the middle also included a Porsche 959, a Rough Rider
chassis to go with the new in box body set, and a Holiday Buggy. Paid £500 for these boxes,
sold the Ford Ranger and Renault F2 car for £280, plus a Ferrari 312T body set which sold for
£140 meaning I got almost all this for all of £80.

Latest bargain, bought not so long ago.
All with very little wear and the Blazing blazer is immaculate underneath. Paid £200 for the lot and the seller thought I was mad.
