Cant please all the people, i was getting bored of buying white and black wheels. I remember years ago Parma did a huge range of different colors of wheels. May paint some wheels red or green!!!!

I thought I'd share my TRF201 as well, It's in the attachments It is to replace my Dyna Storm runner and hopefully soon I'll also start track driving/racing.
It is pretty standard, but because I came across a good deal for the kit I got some hopups for it right away. These include the 52T Reinforced Gear Set, TRF Ceramic Diff Balls and TRF Tungsten Thrust Bearing Balls. I already had a spare set of TRF dampers, so I will set up each set for different terrain. I had a tuning spring set for the rear already, So I just ordered the fronts to make setting up the car more flexible. As I was buying a TRF201 anyway, I decided to get new electronic gear for it as well: - 4600kV Castle Sidewinder V2 System (50% more kV than I had in my Dyna Storm)! - Savox SC1251-MG Servo. - Futaba R603FS Receiver. - Futaba 3PM 2.4Ghz Transmitter. - (Temporarily) Yeah Racing 3200mAh 20C LiPo (Throttle EPA is limited to 80% as I don't know if the battery will hold up to the full power of the system). - (On it's way here) Team Orion 4600mAh 45C LiPo. |

Thanks Scotty. It came out better than I expected. Rattle cans are not the most acurate method, but this time they delivered. I'm really happy with the look
Can't wait to get this operational and racing!

Finally got the TRF 201 to a race track in Sydney. This is St Ives, home of the 1989 World Titles. They recently created this new layout, which I found to be very flowing. TRF was pretty much stock out of the box, except the aluminium rear anti-squat (3 degrees). I had a good day, since I hadn't race for 15-years! Took 4 races to get into the groove. At the end of the day, I qualified 4th in the B final (2wd Stock 17.5T) and managed to win the 2nd of two B Final's. I was one lap off the top A main runners. I consider the result promising as the car was significantly under geared (28/79), when should be more like (33/72). The front tires were also incorrect for the dusty conditions. The Proline scrubs were ok as long as I was on the racing 'blue' groove, but were poor in dusty sections. JC's Ribs were what eveyone else was using.
I also found getting used to the double and quad jumps difficult! We never had those in the 1990's! I'm going to have to play with spring rates and shock oils get this car launching and landing well. I found I needed to keep the throttle nailed to stop it from nose diving. Looking forward to running again in a couple of weeks. _MG_9722.jpg _MG_9723.jpg _MG_9725.jpg _MG_9727.jpg _MG_9770.jpg

It's too long ago since anything was posted here...
One year on and the same TRF201 looks like this I've been doing a lot of small stuff on the car to get it to perform better and better: - Shorty Pack (the car just goes better with it somehow - it's hard to explain and was a while back since I changed to shorties, but it handles noticably better). - Kyosho Ultima SC Gear Diff (works VERY well for me on astroturf, the car responds so much more directly and I get more drive even compared to a tight ball diff - ball diff seems better on clay so far). - Small (75T) Asso Spur (motor sits completely against gearbox - combined with the rear suspension spacer in front of the upright/LWB it should help to reduce the pendulum effect of the rear motor). - XA +0.5 Degrees Toe-in Suspension Hanger (it becomes so much more planted with it - and with the relatively short wheelbase the car really needs it). - Spacers on steering assembly to minimize bump steer (it seems to make the steering a bit more predictable). - Carbon Front Tower+3D printed Camber Link Blocks (Bling+Durability: no more M-parts trees for me). - XV-01 Reinforced uprights (to allow more clearance between camber link and rear shocks). And the latest addition, spring holders for (Durango) Big Bore springs! I've found the (AE) small bore springs tend to warp under compression and rub on the shock bodies - this combined with the rear springs hitting the rear camber link makes for inconsistent spring action. This mod (and the XV-01 uprights) should help solve this, and BB springs may prove to be more consistent than SB ones. From here on there is one more mod that I'm pretty certain of will help performance: a longer wheelbase (+8mm-ish) - Now I just have to consider whether I'll butcher two chassis into one example, or use the Exotek kit. |
