Set ups!
Seeing as i was bored of always seeing the subject (software issues) on the losi forum i thought id start this one that i'll try and keep updated.
Its basically the setup thats i have been using and the ones that i will be trying out. Im thinking to start with i'll put up my Worksop setup that has worked really well for the last 12 months. The second will be what i ran last season outside. I'd also like to see other people with losi to put up theres so we can all have a look and discuss! I think it will help us all, myself included obviously. Just copy and paste mine and fill in your bits instead. Track - Worksop Front Spring - Orange (paint removed) Oil - 35 Piston - 55 Shock Tower Position - 3 Wishbone Position - Middle VLA - Long Camber Link - 2 B Brass bulkhead (or 35g) Notes--- Rear Spring - red (paint removed) Oil - 32.5 Piston - 56 Shock Tower Position - 4 Wishbone Position - Middle VLA - SHORT Camber Link - 2 D Wheelbase - Medium Notes--- Track - Outside whereever really Front Spring - Silver Oil - 32.5 Piston - 555 Shock Tower Position - 3 Wishbone Position - Middle VLA - Long Camber Link - 2 B Brass bulkhead (or 35g) Notes--- depending front wing somtimes used. Always 1/2 4wd hard losi foam Rear Spring - red (paint removed) Oil - 30 Piston - 56 Shock Tower Position - 4 Wishbone Position - Middle VLA - SHORT Camber Link - 2 D or E Wheelbase - Medium Notes--- Long wheels base if very bumpy. Losi hard foams. Oh year i also played about with pro 10 tapered springs in the rear on high bite tracks Anything else you wanna know and ive missed out. Feel free to ask! I think thats about it

Danny what tyres would you run with those setups for the 2wd?
Does your motor choice and gearing vary much on the 2wd? Ride heights? I've just bought myself a CR and hit the comeback trail after a few years away from racing so I'm trying to soak up as much advice as possible for the 'new' car. The last 2wd I owned was a BK2 hybrid but I didn't run that one much. Before that I'd run every Losi 2wd since the XX was released - oh the joy of filling hydra drives with fluid |

7.5's are also very common in 2wd.

Ride height, hmmm well usually i run the front just below level and the rear level. I may tweak that every now and then just to see if theres a difference but generally it stays the same, thats for both indoors and outside. Good to see ur back with losi. Im sure if we all keep this up to date then it will be a great help to us all. Once i get my lipo stuff i'm going to be hitting the tracks hard to find what i think is a decent set up. Ive got some things i wanna try to this year seeing as i have the ability to machine stuff at work. But i'll be keeping everyone up to date. p.s i remember hydra drives. Only ever used it a handful of times though, far to meesy!

Losi motors are better than most ive found, i ran a 6.5 in 4wd since the winter and it's more than enough for most tracks, although the new 5.5 is also very good, nice and smooth with good top end. Ive seen an 8.5 run and was still impressed by the speed of it, ill have 7.5 std setup in 2wd with 6.5 if i need it and probably 6.5 in 4wd but may run 5.5 at some tracks.
I think my choices will be slower motors when i get my lipos to try. |

I dont suppose you tried taking the roll bar off and running the VLA as short did you si? Why did you add the roll bar in the first place? i know you said it stopped the front diving in, but was that just the front end folding over? If so, when that happens i shortern the vla, seems to work for me.
Just a thought. Cheers for sticking that up though, it'll certainly be one to try out. Also were you running lipos? have you tried putting more weight on the front of the battery strap to move the weight forwards a bit. That really helped at worksop last time i was there.

last time i ran the car i tried short and long LVA but i find on short that although the front end does stand up much better in a corner i do loose steering, by running long with the roll bar i found a happy medium, i did try the stiffer roll bar today and it was worse in that it took to much steering away so it does do something although the bars themselves are so thin i did start to wounder if they where doing anything but they do!
No not running lipo still on cells, with all my 1/8th racing my 1/10 gear is getting out of date Weight - i have alot of weight in the car, 25g down both sides on the battery tray in the chassis. I am also running the short KO servo with 40g behind that and 15g under the servo horn so in total including the 30g on the front bulkhead i am running 145g in the car as well as cells! The weight has made a massive difference, car less prone to wheelie, and on power steering greatly improved Si

Holy Moly, thats lots of weight!
Cheers for the info Si, i'll give it all a bash at the next meet. Got some of those servos on order so will give the weight bit a try and report back
