Default hobbywing extreme stock?

Hi,
Anyone know if a hobbywing 5.5turn can be used with an extreme stock esc? Want to use these two in my ansmann x2c. At the moment I have the 119 firmware installed for when I was racing touring car.

Thanks

The instructions say:

1.6 Suitable Brushless Motor:
With 2 cells Lipo or 4-6 cells NiMH, 1/10 on-road: >=8.5T, 1/10 off-road: >=11.5T

I run a 7.5T with an Xtreme Stock in a 2WD buggy with no turbo/boost and it runs fine. Tried a 6.5T (same type as the 7.5T - LRP) and speedo got noticeably hotter which suggested to me I was getting towards the limits of the speedo. Changed back to the 7.5T and heat went away.

Sure it will physically work with a 5.5T, just not sure for how long.

HTH

You might get away with it if you turn everything off, but it's a poor match of motor and ESC. I believe someone confirmed they could use a 7.5 on an Xtreme Stock in a DEX410 - have a search.

You'll likely find that an Xtreme Stock and a 10.5 with lots of boost is plenty quick enough - hitting the right FDR is key, you have to gear it high enough to get it revving a bit, to hit the RPMs where boost kicks in.

DWell I have a 10.5 xcelorin that should do nicely. Like you say FDR is gonna be key, but not having any off road racing experience, only touring car, its a bit hit and miss! Think I might get a 7.5 and turn all the boost timing off. All the settings on these esc's put me off and I think I'd rather use the natural torque of the motor. Its all kind of why I've stopped the on road racing, too much messing about with programme cards, temp gauges and such and not enough fun! thanks for the advice, 7.5 it is

5.5 is a bit too much to be honest for a 60 amp ESC of any type. You might get away with it unboosted with no turbo at all however I would constantly check the temps.

Consider getting a tamer motor maybe. 5.5 in a 2wd is going to be a bit of a handfull no matter how big the track...

Unhappy

Been there with a 5.5 Ballistic & H/W Extreme Stock, and its a definite no. My rotor exploded and the speedo died, and that was on the bench, not on the track. I'd turned it on and gave it a little rev to check it worked which it did for a split second.

What motor is that? I wouldn't bother pairing the sensorless EzRun with the Xtreme Stock, not the best use of that ESC's talents - it can't do it's tricks without a sensor wire. The £14 11.5T motor would probably be quicker!

er scrap what I just wrote, I just checked the order and your absolutely right colmo, I shall be cancelling it. It seems the motor in my friends car is a hw but it doesn't look the same now we are comparing it to the one on the sight. Which is a shame, ill have to order something else. Oh well my mistake

The Hobbywing Xerun range is sensored, the EzRuns are sensorless.
