Default Repairing old wishbone

Does anyone have any ideas how to repair this vintage wishbone? The previous owner used a nail for a hinge pin which increased the hole diameter. The 2mm pin is now loose and there is a lot of wheel wobble. I was thinking of packing it with epoxy resin then pushing through a 2mm pin, allow it to set then remove the pin. I'm afraid the pin will just get glued in there with it. Any ideas welcome.

First coat the pin with grease or vaseline maybe?

Pack it up with epoxy then re-drill the hole?

Thanks, another good idea.

I've not tried drilling epoxy (Araldite) before. Does it tend to shatter?

Try sleeving the hole with some 2mm ID brass (or what ever metal you can get tube)

Thanks. Yes, I like that solution the most so far.

K&S do some thin walled brass tubing 2.5mm O.D. wall thickness 0.225 and 2.05mm I.D. which is ideal. I would need just need to drill out the wishbone a bit first.

There is also some 3/32" O.D. tube which seems more abundant but it the inner diameter is about 1.4mm so I would have to ream it out (I have a 2mm reamer) but I'm not sure... is it possible to a do a good job with such narrow walls?

Anyone know where the 2.5mm is in stock?

Too rare I'm afraid. If I can salvage this one I will. Unless you know an unlimited supply of Schumacher U268C (T268)

4D Models had the K&S 2.5mm thin wall tubing in stock

Will post photos in the usual place when it's done...

You don't really need an unlimited supply do you? One would do!

I think the insert would be the best option if the tolerance between it and the hinge pin isn't too tight - good luck!

Well, maybe not "unlimited" but I do need to preserve as many spares as possible.

I still race my pride and joy alongside modern buggies.

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions... Oople rocks!

Araldite will crumble, the sleeving method would be best, but I would suggest a reamer rather than drilling it.

True, true... anyone want to lend me a 2.5mm hand reamer?

They seem to be around £20

Sleeving for sure, i've done it a number of times. If required, I used to then hand drill. The tubing I used to use was aluminium - but I know you can get brass as well.

The inner diameter of that K&S tubing is 2.1mm so it should be OK with the 2mm pivot pins.
