Default Tamiya 414m2

Hi guys, I'm a old newbie, if it makes sense! I was into my rc racing when I was "younger" now that I've a little more time am back racing! I've got a 414m2 which used old nicads and brushed motors. Now we are in the brushless motor and lipo era I'm struggling with gearing! Anyone got recommendations? The class I'm running in is 17.5 blinky "standard" the tyres are sorex 28r the track is carpet med grip, the track has a long back straight and a twisty in field. Any help would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance.

You want a final drive (straight length dependant) of 3.5 -4.5, you can go lower but normally on flowing outdoor tracks.
Also what motor do you have as some respond well with high end bell timing, I use a FDR of 4.2 on my local track 25m straight with 35* EBT on a G force motor with 40mm Orca fan and it comes off after 5 mins at 60* ish depending on layout.
FDR is spur /pinion * internal ratio (not sure on 414)
