Bury Metro Fire

The Gym has been burned down. I hope they don't blame us for supplying the Diesel fuel from our roller.

Hopefully the council will clean it up for us.

emzy 10-04-2007 01:56 PM

Lee 10-04-2007 01:59 PM

I told woOdy not to peak his cells at 10 amps:D

Track looks good though;)

jimmy 10-04-2007 01:59 PM

millzy 10-04-2007 02:01 PM

ashleyb4 10-04-2007 02:05 PM

You could make it into a covered dirt arrena put a roof on and fill it with dirt sorted.

Lee 10-04-2007 02:08 PM

Could somebody photoshop vicky onto the bury photo, ashley is bored again after we helped him with the last photo:D

Chrislong 10-04-2007 02:11 PM

Looks a mess, just spoken to Roger and he says the fire has not effected the track which I think we are lucky for.

Roger, any need for assistance in de-sooting the straight then give me a shout please, im sure dad will come too. Thats if council don't come and do it for us....

Lee 10-04-2007 02:14 PM

I imagine a good brush and then a pressure washer should sort it.

Have they done awy with the step up at the end of the straight?

super__dan 10-04-2007 03:11 PM

Bloody hell, this shouldn't effect the club though should it. Can't believe I was only there on Sunday, I even had a wee up against the side of the gym cos the toilets weren't open :(

Northy 10-04-2007 03:14 PM

When did it happen? It was still there at 7pm Sunday night when we left.

[second that :p] if that was done on purpose then the person must have loved the track cos its amazing how close it is to the track without it effecting it. does any1 no when it was done??

Rob 10-04-2007 03:55 PM

Must of been Sunday night or Monday night as we were racing there on Sunday.

MikePimlott 10-04-2007 04:32 PM

I was there on monday day it was raining so didnt stay long and it was all ok then??

BUT the little green cabin thats next to the rostrum were we park had been broken into and all the polestyrene from the roof was all over the track.

Me and Mr WoOdeh have just been to look and it has melted some of the astro turf under all that soot, so it looks like the end of the straight will need replacing, so all hands on deck! Anyone who wants to help please contact me or stu. All help will be gratefully recieved! ;)

Oscar 10-04-2007 05:55 PM

Send me a mail when your planning it Jen, and I'll see if I can make it over.

PaulRotheram 10-04-2007 06:06 PM

That's crazy :o I hope no one was hurt in there thats for sure!

I'll offer me help if anything needs doing.

Northy was having a slash there also, maybe they crossed the streams.

_sleigh_ 10-04-2007 06:35 PM

One things for sure, once they've cleared the site there'll be a nice flat concrete area for pitting.

AndyM 10-04-2007 07:07 PM

does anyone know wen the work will happen?

Col 10-04-2007 07:16 PM

As above by Andy. I assume this means racing on sunday 15th will not go ahead unless repairs are finished?

I think that is a little too much to ask. Repairs will not have even started considering its the national this weekend and people work all week. I can only assume at the moment that the following weekend will be a working party weekend for anyone who would like to race at Bury in coming weeks.

Spencer Mulcahy 10-04-2007 09:01 PM

Looks like we will be useing that old stuff then Stu. I will be able to come and help the weekend after the national on the Sunday. We could put Chris's loop the loop at the end of the straight now.:) .
Was it the local chvs that did it or was G there till 7 on sunday trying out a new jet powered car.

hickston 10-04-2007 09:20 PM

How much works involved in replacing that bit of track?, my thoughts being..... are there enough people not going to the national who could do it early Sunday morning?....what is it, 2 meters by 1.5 meters?

Just a thought, would 5 or 6 people and a couple of hrs be enough time?

Northy 10-04-2007 09:33 PM

Does it need replacing for a club meeting?

I'd like to race somewhere this weekend as I'm not at Tivvy. :(

G

hickston 10-04-2007 09:38 PM

Was thinking of that too, but if the front straight is burnt and the back straight is "changing", that only leaves the fiddly bits in the middle and my car doesnt go great unless it's in a straight line!!:D

Col 10-04-2007 09:44 PM

All sounds good - I don't race nationals and wanted to have a thrash about this weekend. I'll happly turn up a few hours early to help if it'll do any good...

mattym0310 10-04-2007 09:54 PM

hi. even if we couldnt have a work party for then. i would love to race sunday as i have nowhere else to go [big aawwwwwwssssssssss:(]. could we not just go where the arrow is instead??......

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...g?t=1176242061

even if we couldnt would it not be okay for just club meetings??

woOdy 10-04-2007 09:58 PM

Hi guys. If you want to go down on Sunday and do a bit its up to you. I am not there due to me being at Tivy. If you want though I can get Dad to come down and supervise? If so, good luck with him. Let me know and I will get it sorted.

MikePimlott 10-04-2007 10:02 PM

I think its a good idea sooner its done the better really, Plus we can squeeze a few heats in on sunday as well.

There is the option of missing that part of the track out.

Or the super wooden jump to clear the burnt patch :D

Stu, is Rog your dad? And that sounds like he needs ruling with a rod of iron.!..

hickston 10-04-2007 10:04 PM

How much track is burnt woody?, I know how heavy that astro turf is now, especially with sand in it!!!

Failing that, we have just about everything thats left on this picture apart from the top right hand bit (back straight)

http://www.bury-metro-rcc.currantbun.com/Pictures.htm

Stu

Northy 10-04-2007 10:07 PM

I'm sure we can sort something :)

G

woOdy 10-04-2007 10:22 PM

The bit that is melted is after the jump in the straight just where you land and up to the bricks on the hairpin.

Chrislong 11-04-2007 07:33 AM

Woody, can the melted Astro be raced over once swept? then when we all get back from the National - all of us can muck in.

RobHatcliffe 11-04-2007 08:29 AM

Woody / Rog

Have we lost the electricity supply as a result of the fire? If so, running a meeting is gonna prove a bit tricky.

If we still have electric & water I'm quite happy to bring my jet-wash down on Sunday morning to try and blast the track clean if that will help.

I'm willing to come and help on Sunday, but as I've said before I'm a worker ant so I'll leave to organising to Roger.

AndyM 11-04-2007 08:36 AM

i have offered Roger my generator for the day, he is checking today to see if the electricity is still running

The race controller 11-04-2007 01:37 PM

Just (12:30 Wed) been down to the track and it seems unlikely that we will have electrickery for Sunday. So it will be the borrowed generator.
there's no water either so no brews.
There's a fence to stop us getting into the ashes but don't lose much of the track.

RobHatcliffe 11-04-2007 02:15 PM

Does the track need a few hours work before racing on Sunday Roger, or is it useable in it's present state?

I may nip over after work tonight to have a mooch and see what needs doing.
