ANYONE INTERESTED?

is anyone interested in a stock 4wd buggy class? Like they do in tc?

ashleyb4 21-08-2007 08:46 PM

How slow and boring would that be.

Possibly a 2wd 19t class defently not a 4wd 19t or stock class.

my dad run a 19 turn indoor ( checkpoint money motor ) and it wasnt that slow u narna ! lol

as for only 2wd, youve only said that would be ok because u raced with one for ages i heard... indoors i recon 19 motors are cool as owt.. somtimes its the faster car

ashleyb4 21-08-2007 08:53 PM

Yea indoors there not to bad but who said we where running indoors lol. A 2wd 19t class round somewhere like kiddy would be good with the short straights and tight bends. But generally a slower motor makes the car easier to drive but ive found 4wd is so easy to drive you dont reallyneed a slower motor.

Also he is surgesting a stock class meaning 27t.

lazerboy 21-08-2007 08:57 PM

it wouldn't be that slow, and the faster driver ang car would always win. it wouldn't be about who has the lowest turn brushless, and the highest capacity lipo. You would spend under $500 for a complete setup, not $1000 to $2500.

xx4-nutter 21-08-2007 08:57 PM

on a track like bury metro a stock calss would be good because there isnt much grass to cause drag and slow the car down too much... full grass tracks would be different ! :D

it would still be fun though to race stock class on that sorta track anywaysw :).. indoors at teeside they race the tt-01 class and they arent fast but hell it makes some good and close racing

Best racing i have ever seen :)

ashleyb4 21-08-2007 08:59 PM

I know that slow racing is good fun close racing like mardaves etc but i reacon some people would get bored as you couldnt open it up down the straight.

A

xx4-nutter 21-08-2007 09:02 PM

i agree mate, its ace to wach cars that close.. for people who havnt got alot of money a stock buggy class offers a competative race for everyone, not just for the people who have the best cells, the best motors and stuff :)..

plus u wouldnt need to replace tyres every 5 mins too ! lol

u would be able to open a 19 turn up on any streight ! :o .. id give it a go definatly... it would be an upto date vintage class speed

lazerboy 21-08-2007 09:04 PM

and you could have the race last 15 min's instead of 4.

rcracer 21-08-2007 09:04 PM

I ran my 19 turn checkpoint at bury regional and beat a lazer with a 4* brushless ( hare and the tortoise ) ;) , but now i have my tamiya i want speed

josh_smaxx 21-08-2007 09:06 PM

Im up for it, especially now what they have done to the track at teesside, i recon that a 19T would be faster than any other car.

ashleyb4 21-08-2007 09:07 PM

Kiddy you would its not that long.

The one thing about quick motors is coming to the end of the straight and seeing who breaks the earliest and who gets the inside line into the corner i love high speed overtaking moves into the corner after the straight. I agree it would be good for beginers as a local series to me runs a 19t 2wd class at the border county league and its good for begginers i used to do it but stopped now.

ashleyb4 21-08-2007 09:08 PM

im up for a 19t class but it would have to be outdoors.

A

mattym0310 21-08-2007 09:09 PM

we do a weekly 20t class for 2wd buggys at our club, and its great fun. ive only recently started doing mod full time there cos of how close the racing was and how fun it is [although its meant for the begginner]

Ben Riley is awesome on his brakes coming off a straight. hes stupid quick:D

ashleyb4 21-08-2007 09:13 PM

I love going down the straight letting the other person get the inside line push them so they run out of time to break they run wide and you just go up the inside of them did that at the weekend.

josh_smaxx 21-08-2007 09:15 PM

I find it fun flying down the straight going past much slower cars really close to them, makes your heart skip a beat, you think you hit them :)

lazerboy 21-08-2007 09:17 PM

Or maybe a 15 turn class? good mix of torque and rpm. I think it would be even better if everyone had to use the same motor.

19turn class the motor has to be comercially abailable at the time 6 nimh or nicad cells. full brca rules.

What the hells wrong with your heart.

Problem with a stock class is people would resort to the best cells and gear the motors for high speed but lots of wear so inevitably the people with money would get an advantage.

xx4-nutter 21-08-2007 09:26 PM

ignor me lol , post deleted lol

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE ! :)

Nothings wrong with my heart, just find it fun :)

I agree sometimes it does get a little hair raising.

Chris Doughty 22-08-2007 09:23 AM

I am sorry, but the guy with the lowest turn motor or highest voltage cells is never the reason for them winning in off-road.

anyone can get a 3.5 sintered brushless motor and some good cells and it would be insanely fast, if that person was able to get it round the track and win with it then I would happily pay homage to them.

even in 4WD on our UK high grip tracks we run 5.5 bonded motors at max, at southport I put in a 4.5 sintered and I don't think I went round the track any faster, it was way too fierce! and it was a wild ride down the straight :wtf:

tc2k 22-08-2007 03:09 PM

Yes thats right, but with 27turn stock, you could do with the extra speed and I was saying the idea it would be cheaper isnt realistic as people will try squeezing every ounce of speed out of the motors by any means

lazerboy 22-08-2007 03:26 PM

Maybe a t-spec like offroad class would work?

(100th post!:D)

dude i made a D final at tivy national and held off Paul robbingson and Matt Hodington for 5 mins with 19t in my b4

also made a D final with the xxx4 at Batley runnig a 19t motor

both tracks where megga long, Tivy was Euros style that year. we geard around 82/78 in the rrci 19t class Ken Reith and I where never slow in it, and southport didnt feel like we where wainitng for a bus down the flat long striaght

burgie 22-08-2007 04:06 PM

Southport RCC used to run a 19t "spec" class.

The average lap times for the top drivers around our track with a 19t in a 2wd was around 26 seconds. 4 seconds slower than when they are running 9t silly motors, so they are not exactly slow.

The series was well attended and popular with the club members until the "brushless revolution". Nobody runs that class anymore!

All that happens when you introduce a limited class, such as stock class, is that the cost of racing goes up as people who are taking part look for that extra edge over the competition.

ashleyb4 22-08-2007 06:42 PM

I know whatyoumean millzy with 2wd i often use a 19t in my 2wd i still keep with drivers using mosifieds or if not beat them.

AndyF 24-08-2007 12:03 PM

Well I think it would be good.

The thing that made me leave a sport I loved when I was in my early teens was Batley moving away from 27T stock to anything goes. If you don't have a class that is affordable for new comers and the young then you will eventually be left with nobody that is interested.

Some of you are complaining it would be too slow. Well don't enter this class and leave it for those who are new to the sport. Not everybody will have the skill (or the modesty!) to run at 2 zillion miles an hour the first time they put their car on the grid.

I agree that putting a supper expensive motor into a car wont help a poor driver win. But two drivers of equal ability could be devided by thier bank balance.

lazerboy 24-08-2007 02:36 PM

that's why tracks need to keep their mod class, and do exactly what they do with tc's, and add a 19 or stock class. I would LOVE to have a t-spec class in off road. If you don't know what that is, it's where a company took this idea, made a car and said you car race it if you don't modify it, and you use the same motor, battery, and even body as everyone else. So basically everyone was racing the same cars with a few small tuning thingies. sounds great for offroad.

Chris Doughty 24-08-2007 02:40 PM

reading in on some threads about TC dying in the UK everyone seems to think its because there are too many classes. they are sugesting things like put everyone into Mod TC for nationals.

thats how we do it and it works really well for nationals, as Millz has said, you can still run 19t equiv motors and get good scores.

club racing rules and specs should be whatever is best locally supported I believe.

I don't think there is scope for a 'low cost' national series, the whole point of low cost series is low cost, why would people want to travel around the country costing them a fortune?

lazerboy 24-08-2007 02:45 PM

i'm not saying to have a nationals class. if your good enough to make it to the nationals, then you don't need a budget car.

mole2k 24-08-2007 03:40 PM

We run 19t stock at our local club with buggys indoors, we've found modifieds to be not much quicker than the 19t aside from the less experienced people causing more damage to their cars when hitting them at higher speeds.

We actually run a 19t stock class and a 27t stock class for the beginners, I myself have ran a 27t stock against the 19t stock around our hall and there is very little difference. I never won overall but came 2nd on a number of occasions.

Slower motors dispite feeling a lot slower dont slow you down as much as you might think, modern 19t stocks are great.
