2012 SORC Regional Series Round 1
With just over a week to go, still a number of regular racers from last year to book in. Remember that you really need to enter the early rounds or you will almost certainly be in the lower heats due to how the heats are made up.
Only drivers that have prebooked will be allowed on the rostrum to practice initially as they will be the only people that will have had their BRCA affilition confirmed, we need to do this for insurance. If you don't show as confirmed on the competitors list, you need to get in touch and sort out your BRCA. We will be booking in everyone that pre-enters first so they can practice straight away, once they are complete we will work through those that choose to enter on the day. If you do choose to enter on the day remember you will have less time to practice. Racing starts at 10am, with 4 rounds of Round by Round, then 3 finals for everyone. Usual facilities, we will have juice available trackside, hot food and toilets available at the moto x. Any questions please post below. |

Call it what you like, but you know exactly what is required. The majority are affiliated, the minority are full members. |

Can you book online using the web form, very simple, that way you don't have to do it for every round, and I don't have to ask you for details as everything we require is on the form. If you have problems with the online form let me know and I'll book you in for this round. |
just found the drivers list on the site, couldnt remember if i had booked in
|
anyone got a link 2 book in cant find it:confused:
|
|
Just click on the "Events" at the top of the page, hardest bit is getting the code at the bottom of the page.
Select all the rounds you want to book in for, you can change later so not a problem, then enter your date below that, make sure you fill in the boxes with a * to the right hand side. |

I think all rounds are up to date for showing competitors, but I will ensure the next meeting is accurate after we complete a round. Derek |

We will have a full set of handouts available for those that don't have pt's.
A reminder for junior drivers, as the rostrum is permanent, bring a long a suitable box to stand on to see over the fixed height hand rail. |

Cheers, David |
Derek, can you clarify the below please. If the timetable is as per the sorc website track opens 8 and booking in 9 how is this going to operate? Are you saying booking in can start at8am for prebooked drivers so they can then practice straight away?
Just trying to work out when to arrive!? or more importantly when to get out of bed:D Quote:
|
SORC website is guideline, as it was last year. We will start booking in as soon after 8am as we can, and will prioritise those that have taken the time to prebook. Once we get finished with those, we will then invite those that would like to book in on the day. Once you are booked in, we know you have BRCA insurance cover you can go out and practice. Practice will finish at 9:30, followed by drivers briefing, and heat 1 at 10am.
|
There will be no moto x next week adjacent to us, so therefore there will be no food available, make sure you bring some food. We may have a break but as we don't know how many people will be racing that will have to be a judgement call on the day.

David is a very old friend of mine - he's welcome to my space in the box. I'll not be there, but happy to help out. Dave - All you'll need is a 4-way and a chair, and a bench light of sorts. |

Confirmation emails have been sent to everyone that has entered to date, give them a little bit of time to come through. Check details sent to you are correct. Same details are available in the results section of www.sorcinfo.org
For those that do not have BRCA membership yet, I can sort that out if you send me the correct BRCA number, or just show me your 2012 card on the day when you book in. For those that still require to join the BRCA I will do that when you book in. |
Bruce's models received full shipment of Mini Spikes today, everything in stock ready for weekend.
Also received new style cut staggered ribs, plus foam inserts. |
Track is down ready for tomorrow, straight has been finished to make it smoother.
Looking at weather forecast we should be dry for most of tomorrow, heat anyway, and then some light showers potentially during finals. |

I'll check your new number tonight, bring your card just in case. Bryan If you email me the details through to the address you got the confirmation from, I'll add Reiss in tonight. If you want to use the online system that is fine as well. |
just been up track looks really good well done:thumbsup:
|
i thought today went really well. finished 5th overall in 4wd, good track, well organaised. hope the other 6 rounds are as enjoyable
|
Well, that the series started officially now, round 1 is over, very good racing all days, some excellent tussles.
Two worthy winners, James Collins in 2wd, and David Smith in 2wd. After all the rain we had had the previous week, we actually had a dry days racing, the track was still wet and slippy, but the additional astroturf section on the straight meant there was approx 60% astro turf used for the racing surface. What I would like to see improve for future rounds is driver etiquette, accidents happen, but when you gain track position you should really wait until the victim is back in front of you before setting off. This is especially true in finals where you are racing for position, remember it's not up to the referee (and yes John did a great job all day) to see all the incidents and then tell you to pull over, we should all be doing it second nature. Anyway, roll on round 2 at Falkirk in 2 weeks. If you are still to enter please use the online entry form at www.sorcinfo.org |
Derek, big thanks to you and the team for putting on a great start to the year.
I thought that John did a particularly good job as referee, and commentator, it made the difference between it being a sequence of buggy races, to a real feeling of being an event/ meeting. Dont know if that makes sense. I must say Derek, that the fact you waited after our collision amazed me and much respect for that. Yes it ruined my race from 3rd, but you then sacrificed your own result as well by waiting. The mid-pack was so tight in 2wd A, that it meant we dropped right to the back on one corner. I do appreciate what you did. Unfortunately in the 3rd leg it was done to me as well while in 2nd place, but that time whomever was just continued on. Frustrated by both at the time, however on reflection just need to find some pace so I dont end up dropping back into the pack. Overall very good, big  from me. Big  on how a large portion seem to view marshalling as some sort of chore. Its part of the day and will never go away, so do it properly, you cant eat, stand with hands in pockets, talk to other people, and face the wrong way, watch the race, AND do it properly. :) |
