Team C gear diff

Can anyone tell me why the gear diff for the rear motor cars wont fit the mid motor ones?

Is the housing the the gear box the wrong size? Can anything be moded to make it fit?

Will they ever make one for the mid motored cars?

The gearbox is way too narrow.
