postage issue question

i sold a rc car and posted it via standard parcel but the buyer says he hasnt received it so i then sent the post office and email they responded with an email saying they would get back to me asap this was about a week ago and i have not heard anything from them is this normal as i have never had this issue before
or should i get back onto them about it?
i tell you what though il never use royal mail again after this experience

Did you put a return address on the parcel?

I had something similar happen to me... the parcel went missing... I got a letter from RM with a refund for the value of the parcel, sadly I did not get a refund on the postage cost!!!

How much is the parcel worth?

Unless you sent it via insured delivery, I think they only cover up to £32 or something like that?

the mad1 07-04-2009 09:46 PM

it was only £40 so wasnt to expensive

they only cover up to £36 if its recorded delivery i think, you can have a much larger value through standard or special delivery parcel... if you ask for it, which day did you post it? I never post on a saturday and try to avoid fridays unless I'm desperate as this is when i've found they tend lose things the most over the gap sunday.

it was actually posted on the monday morning

thanks for the info guys

First class and Recorded are both covered for the same value, all Recorded adds is a signature on delivery for you to see it is there (or not as the case may be) Recorded adds NOTHING else. GND12 Guarrenteed Next Day is the service to use, it is "supposed" to be (and usually 99% of the time is) next day and is fully insured for up to £500 as standard (more if you pay extra for it)

HTH

cheers buddy im actually more gutted that the car has gone missing tbh as it was my old truck from 18 years ago

Rich D 07-04-2009 10:21 PM

It was probably worth more than £40 too then unless it was a wreck - sorry to kick you whilst you are down ! :woot:

What was it ?

the mad1 07-04-2009 10:24 PM

it was a schumacher storm(cougar truck) may not be quite 18 years ago but not that far off
