xcelorin 7.5T smoke

Decided to just check things over before tomorrow and now when I run the motor I get a burning smell and smoke. About 30 seconds running.. What the hell is gone wrong now :(

Checked the wires and all looks ok.

It gets very hot quickly, motor is just getting hotter and hotter :(

Looks like I won't be racing for a couple of weeks now

Spektrum / KO Helios
LRP SPhere TC
LIPOS and NIMHs

Sounds like one of the sets of windings is burning out, or is shorting slightly. Take/Send it back IMO.

Otherwise check that the wires match up correctly from the speedo to the tabs. If it sounds quite noisy, then you may have some of the wires matched up incorrectly, which means that the rotor is not turning properly (if you see what I mean). It would also explain the motor getting hot!

Check this first!

Poo, just my luck and bought it 2nd hand from someone off here... Who handles Losi warranty..

Yup it's noisy, that's what drew my attendtion to it.

Could be the rotor going/magnet. Would also explain it getting hot. Have you possibly overgeared it, or not run it yet?

Horizon deal with Losi electrics. PM Southwell on here for more info.

It ran fine last weekend in the garden and then I come to run it now. Nothing... Didnt think I'd overgeared it.

It's smoking with no wheels attached etc. and then I removed the pinion

OK I'll PM him

markwilliamson2001 16-05-2009 06:14 PM

Sounds faulty to me then....
Must be shorting out internally somewhere on one of the windings.

So how come it runs fine and then packs in on my desk?? Did you say other people have had this issues?

markwilliamson2001 16-05-2009 06:33 PM

Not heard of other people with this issue! I have two of them, which are fine!
You must just be one of the unlucky ones.. The previous owner may have given it some abuse, which you didn't know about...

Just trying to help dude!

Mark

Hasn't been a pleasant return to racing so far.

I never have good luck so that'll be about right..

Fingers crossed for a speedy resolution :)

Gives me time to fit my new Losi shocks to the B4

mikeyscott 22-05-2009 05:53 PM

well I wonder if it's been caused bu an ESC issue as it ran fine for the person who is checking it for me...

time to buy a Tekin / test with another brushless tomorrow. a trip to demon might be in order..
